Start at the beginning.
Do not skip around.
Failure can stem from a single misunderstood word
If you do not comfortably understand something you are reading, clear up any confusion before proceeding to another topic. Ask someone, look it up, read the previous topics over again, whatever it takes. Don't just plunge ahead.
You cannot build on a weak foundation.
Be aware that different people in different circumstances have different names and different definitions for the things we'll cover.
Many of the terms we'll use have much more complex definitions than we will discuss here.
