Introduction
The use of harmony and chord progression can usually affect atmospheres which a song communicates; therefore, to further understand feelings produced by different chord progressions is very helpful to your playing as well as compositions.
As pop music available in a current market are mostly written in a certain mode of chord progression, it is quite uneasy for listeners to identify different characteristics. And with quite a smaller ear range, general song composers and instrumental players, can easily be limited in a smaller frame.
Of such concerns, I therefore search pop songs domestically and internationally with more characteristics in chord progressions as references. I have listened and organized all chords on my own. In addition to listing out music with a guitar chord notation method, an analysis on harmony is also available. I hope readers who love music performing, song arranging as well as composing are able to expand depths and longitudes in music on themselves through the understanding of chord progressions. Also I look forward to more diversities in pop music of the future. The provided QR Code is for you to listen to and feel related music on Youtube.
It may possibly contain advanced music theory in relation to areas of harmonic analysis sections and more Intros are available in Chapter of Analysis and Integrations.
If readers feel it is more difficult to understand theory sections, then it is all right to omit them. As long as readers can rehearse chord progressions continuously, allowing your body to remember these different feelings, these chord progressions will naturally become a part of your music data collections. And during performances and compositions, you will naturally feel the ability to be able to choose different chords.
Certainly you can use chord progressions to practice improvisation or compositions directly. Many music masters have ever revealed that if you want your body to remember the feeling of choosing chords naturally, you will need to use them directly upon performances and composition. The last chapter is to guide you to rearrange chord progressions in a song by using harmonic approaches, and this also allows you think about how to produce different tastes or feelings when playing a song.
For readers who are familiar with the guitar, the fingerings are listed out under every chord and I hope you are able to do transposition trainings on your own upon practice times. For transpositions on the guitar, please place the root of a tonic chord to keys of different strings for practices (eg:
