I was born in Dundee in Scotland, and was a student at the University of Abertay. I have written many pieces of poetry over the years for Tailcast.com under my own name. I still write poetry but lately I have tried children's stories. The first was as a story to tell the grandchildren. As you can see I have written quite a few books now, but struggle to find the time to write more.I have a couple of new one's in the pipeline and I hope that you will all bear with me, I'm sure the kids will love them. Oh and I haven't forgotten the older generation among you and have a great idea for a new book that I'm sure you'll like also. Much love to all who have taken the time to read my stuff. Any feedback at vegvanman@live.co.uk.

Chapter One Molly makes a friend
It was a grey day and molly had asked her mum if she could play outside in the garden. Her mum had said it was raining so it was upstairs to play in her room. It had rained for three days and molly was very bored as she had so wanted to try the new swing that dad had put up in the summer. He had tied it to the branch of the big oak which stood in the bottom of the garden. Oh she so wished it would stop raining as she pushed her nose up against the window of her room and looked out onto the garden. Molly was nine and three quarters and was fair haired like her mum with long golden locks and big bright blue eyes. She didn’t have any friends of her age yet, as they had only just moved to the area, because of dad’s change of job. Mum was going to take her to the local school to get enrolled quite soon, and molly had driven past it a couple of times with her when they had been out getting the weekly shop. Molly thought the place looked rather bleak and wondered what the other kids would be like when she did finally go.
Then she was taken from her thoughts by something moving in a pile of leaves which had been swept into a corner of the garden, beside the old garden shed. She first thought that it was some small creature like a hedgehog or maybe a mole, or even next doors cat, but when the leaves moved for a second time she saw big green eyes looking right at her. This was like no animal she could think of, or at least not one she’d been aware of lived in people’s gardens. She could hear mum closing the washing machine door, and knew she’d be going out of the kitchen soon to the utility room at the back of the house, which held the tumble dryer. She often used the tumble dryer when the weather was bad. Molly crept down the stairs and peered around the kitchen door and saw her mum closing the door to the utility room behind her as she struggled with a big basket of freshly washed laundry. Taking her chance molly opened the door to the back yard and ran over to the large pile of leaves. Slowly and timidly she poked the toe of her shoe into the pile and moved the leaves around looking for the thing if it was indeed still there. Suddenly she jumped back
