Introduction
This book is written specifically for amateur photographers who wish to photograph alpine (downhill) ski races. High school and college ski teams compete during the winter months and provide ample opportunity for parents, relatives and friends to get fabulous action images of the skiers. There are ski racing associations in many states that manage race programs for both adults and juniors, as well as the USSA (United States Ski and Snowboard Association). Access to good shooting locations is generally unrestricted as long as one is careful to stay out of the way. The shooting techniques are certainly useful for Olympic or professional events but access to prime shooting locations is usually very limited.
