Synopsis: Dropped On Her Doorstep, is a story about Prudence, a whiskey drinking and man-loving woman of the Old West, who’s sitting on her porch one evening when a galloping horse runs past her home and drops off a half-dead man. Fortunately, she knows just how to heal him.

It was New Year’s Eve out on the prairie and even in front of the warm, crackling fire, inside her lonesome homestead; Prudence could hear the celebratory gunshots and some of the ruckus that drifted over the plains from town. Prudence liked a good fiesta as much as anybody but she’d long since grown distaste for most of the folks that she knew would be there. The feeling of course was mutual.

People around town liked to say that Prudence had a touch of the devil in her. It was a point she wasn’t too sure she could argue. People had been spreading such slanderous hooey about her since she was a little girl. Now she was a full-grown woman and Prudence took pride in the nasty reputation she’d earned.

It was widely known that Prudence had a sort of insatiable appetite for some things. She liked her whiskey bottles, she liked a plug of chewing tobacco and she liked a man’s body. All three of these things she was known to exhaust a standard supply of before being completely satisfied. It wasn’t rare that Prudence might come into town to find herself a virile, young fellow at the dance hall, wear him out completely and be out looking for another before the night was through.

When men alone couldn’t get the job done, Prudence might even come calling upon a certain few of the working girls at the old saloon that were whispered to cater to just such cravings. Prudence wasn’t shy about her needs.

By now however, Prudence had worn the town out. There weren’t usually any men worth her interest anymore and most men in town would just avoid her out of caution. Instead, she went out onto her porch and sat alone in her mama’s old rocking chair, sipping her whiskey while the fire crackled sweetly from inside.

Now and then, her hands wandered beneath her dress out of idleness and her mind would start to wander. The sipping whiskey had her blood stirring
