    ABIGAIL PINK’S ANGEL

    Chapter One

Abigail Pink had been ill in bed for four days during which time she'd had some very strange dreams, so she wasn't the slightest bit surprised when an angel flew through her open window and crash landed on the carpet.

Abigail had been suffering from the flu. Her horrible brother, Ben, had given it to her on purpose. Ben had never given her anything nice. He once gave her a disgusting hairy spider for her birthday because he knew she hated them.

Abigail lay in bed listening to the fluttering noise and decided that she would probably wake up in a minute. Five minutes later the fluttering sound was still there, so she looked out from under her covers to locate the source of the noise.

The angel sat on her bedside cabinet studying her.

'Hello,' she said. 'How come you're still in bed? It's after nine.'

'I'm ill,' croaked Abigail. 'I've got the flu and a high temperature, which is why I'm talking to you, probably.'

'Ah, you're poorly are you? I might be able to help with that.'

The Angel fluttered up onto Abigail's pillow and placed both hands on her head. Within seconds Abigail felt better, not just better, normal, the flu had gone.

'How did you do that?' asked Abigail. 'I feel great now.'

'Angels can do lots of things,' said the angel. 'I think it's safe enough here, I'll just make a few changes and then...'

Abigail watched open-mouthed as the angel flew down to the carpet and then began to grow. She grew until her head almost touch the ceiling before shrinking back to more or less the same height as Abigail.

She was a pretty angel, though Abigail supposed all angels were pretty. She had golden hair, bright blue eyes and a dimple in the middle of her chin.

'That's more like it,' said the angel. 'My name is Arella by the way.'

    'I'm Abigail Pink,' said Abigail.

Arella smiled and looked around Abigail's room. 'Where am I?' she asked. 'I was with Bernice on my way to a place called New York when I was deflected from my flight path.'

'You're in Midchester, England,' said Abigail. '22 Acacia Gardens, to be exact.'

'Is it far to New York?' asked Arella. 'How long would it take me to fly there?'

'A long time,' said Abigail. 'My friend went there on her holidays, it took them eight hours, and that was on a plane.'

Arella pulled a face. 'Eight hours?’ I can't do eight hours in one go. I think I'd better hang around here until Bernice comes back for me. She'll notice I'm missing when she lands.'

Abigail propped herself up and took a sip of water from her glass on the bedside table. 'Who's Bernice and why were you going to New York?' she asked.

Arella pursed her lips and perched herself on the edge of the bed.

'Bernice is my mentor,' she said. 'She's teaching me to become a Guardian Angel. We were supposed to be visiting someone called, Megan McMillpiddle. I'm to be her angel eventually, when I've learned the ropes.'

'How come you ended up here then?' asked Abigail. 'You're a long way off course.'

'I bumped into an aeroplane on the way down and got bounced off in a completely different direction.' Arella rubbed
