Introduction
I have been told I write just like I talk. I’m not sure if that is good or bad. Either way, in the case of this book, I hope it is true. This writing project is extremely personal for me. So, as you read my story, I hope my heart and voice are abundantly clear. But you will need to imagine the Bostonian accent!
What you are about to read is the outpouring of my heart in which I am trying to be honest and open with my shortcomings. I must admit it’s a little scary to put such a personal journey in print for everyone to see; my weaknesses will be on display. But it is my prayer that the Lord bless my attempts at writing and transparency, that you may see His hand in my journey, and it all gives Him glory. I also pray that you glean some insights into the works of our loving, Heavenly Father and, in some way, you are blessed by my labors.
For many years, I felt the Lord prompting me to put this on paper. But I waited for the Lord to give me a go ahead because I knew this project would be emotional for me. And it was. As I read this aloud to my husband, even he said, I am having a hard time being manly over here and I already know the story.
What follows are the lessons from the story of Noah that the Lord taught me during some of my darkest days - lessons in which you may even see yourself. You will find study questions at the end of each chapter. I have tried to leave the format flexible, having read or participated in Bible studies that were so consuming I felt discouraged if I missed a day. When that happened, I could not get caught up. For that reason I purposely did not put in Day 1,
Day 2,
etc. So, you can read this study at your own pace. You can skip the questions and read straight through as a book. Or you may simply read a chapter each day (or reading session) and then do the application questions along with it.
It is my prayer for the Lord to richly bless you as you study His Word and begin the process of learning to surrender control of your life to Him. A surrendered life when you trust Him through both joys and trials is a beautiful thing. So come along and we’ll cry together and rejoice together as we
