Hunter slammed the other girl on the lunchroom counter, sending the cash register crashing down behind it as their schoolmates watched. Teachers banged at the barred double doors in attempts to get inside. Stacey, give up, Hunter said. Why do you insist on fighting me anyway? I prefer to fight boys.

The athletic blonde adjusted her position on the counter and kicked her in the face. You beat up my boyfriend!

She dodged another kick and came in with a punch to Stacey's face. He was hitting you. I saved your ass.

"I didn't need your help! You embarrassed him and me! She tried to scratch Hunter's eyes, but only managed to rake sharp nails across her brow. I'm going to kick your ass bitch!"

As a student of mixed martial arts, Stacey had a reputation for being one the toughest girls at Nelson High. Hunter looped an arm around her neck, dragged her halfway off the counter and dropped back, driving her head into the tiles with a nasty thud. Some of the fainter-hearted students gasped.

Stacey remained suspended at an angle, her legs still propped up against the counter but her head and splayed arms on the floor. Stacey you okay? Hunter asked softly lying next to her. Hope you're just knocked out.

In response, Stacey elbowed her repeatedly in the face. Her voice shook with rage. "Stop talking down to me like a victim! I'm not a victim! I was fighting my boyfriend! Fighting him!"

Hunter rolled away from her and up. She had been motivated to help Stacey, but also admittedly to show off by beating up a boy. A justified opportunity to knock out a guy was hard to come by. "Okay, maybe I was wrong. You're pretty tough, you might've held your own. But if you don't settle down, you're going to be my victim."

Stop disrespecting me! Stacey stood, blood pouring
