About this ebook

Lighthearted cage fighting action with a badass antiheroine and a touch of fantasy.

Legendary mixed martial arts champion turned promoter Kacey Norris decides to start an all-inclusive open weight, open gender division to show everyone that women can hang with the men. Things don't go the way she planned, prompting her to come out of retirement to prove the point herself. But when her ego runs out of control and threatens to damage the sport she worked so hard to build, it's up to her loving partner Steve to save the day - perhaps with a bit of supernatural help.

A novelette. Set in the same world as the Tales of the Gothic Warrior series.

Kacey leaned back in her plush conference room chair, munching on microwave light popcorn while she watched the mixed martial arts event on her DVD. Thanks for getting me this, she said to her boyfriend. It's nice to relive the good old days now and then.

You work too hard. Steve finished preparing a bowl of nachos and walked over with the messy snack. Someone had to get you something that would make you sit down and take a break.

There's a lot to do between promoting the company and setting up events. Not to mention keeping up with everybody's demands.

I know. But I bet you have to admit, those were funner times. Steve sat in her lap and shoved a dip-covered nacho between her lips.

Hey, what are you doing? You're going to ruin my dress! She pushed weakly at him, giggling. And yeah... they were.

On the projection screen normally used for presentations, a younger Kacey stood exchanging blows in the cage with super soldier turned kickboxer, Phillip Michaels. He followed up one of his patented skull-rattling right kicks to her head with a left cross, and she crumpled to the mat.

Damn, you went limp for a second there! Steve said with a lightness made possible only by hindsight. You can see the referee think about stopping it.

Without seeing if he would, her opponent pounced upon her and hammered down loud punches. Kacey however managed to recover into guard, wrapping her legs about his torso to limit his movement. Instead of attempting a sweep or submission like most would expect, she punched up. Her fists connected solidly several times to his jaw, and awed gasps filled the arena as he slumped forward.

Unbelievable! one of the commentators said. Seconds after eating a deadly kick, The Chosen One has knocked out Phillip Michaels!

Hands and chin of steel, Steve mused, lovingly caressing said body parts. Though only as tall and sturdy as a small man, she had physical gifts enough to make movie heroines jealous. Unlucky for me if we ever engage in domestic violence.

Kacey grinned to see herself announced the winner before the quiet audience. Could you get me some Pepsi Max? I'm out.

He stood and headed for the small fridge in the corner. We're out of Max. We got regular and regular diet.

You drank all my soda? All right, regular then!

Steve passed her the bottle a bit nervously, only for her to kiss him. Just to taste the Max on your lips before I drink this junk.

    Regular still tastes better. Then
