Be Your Child's Maths Tutor Book 2: Algebra

About this ebook
This book has been written by an experienced maths tutor who has seen children make significant progress using the lesson plans in this book. In busy classrooms, children can sometimes be scared to ask questions when they don't understand something and sometimes it is difficult for them to catch up with a maths unit, once the teacher has moved onto the next one.
This book has been designed to help parents, and carers, tutor their children, to help them improve their confidence and stop them falling behind with their maths. Based on the government's one-to-one tuition programme, this book contains ten one-hour lesson plans, which covers the Algebra and equations unit for KS3 and KS4 children in the UK; however, it will be useful for all children between the ages of 10 to 15. Written in plain English so those parents, and carers, who aren't confident with maths should be able to understand the concepts before teaching their children. Is compatible with the new UK 9-1 curriculum content.

About the Author
Angie Fish is a qualified teacher and Early Years professional with over five years’ experience of one to one tuition in maths and English. She is currently helping adults with their literacy, numeracy and ICT skills as a Key Skills Trainer. She has identified the main areas where children have difficulties and has written this series of books so that parents and carers can help children with these difficulties, so they have more confidence in the classroom and are less likely to fall behind. Adults may also find the books useful to help improve their basic maths skills.
About this eBook
Although the book relates to the Key Stage 3 Curriculum in the UK it can also be adapted for use with other age groups or in different countries. The basic rules of maths are the same wherever you are in the world. Each topic area is designed to be taught as a one hour lesson on a one to one basis. It is recommended you start at the beginning so that your child is taught everything they should know in a particular mathematical area. This book is the second book in a series and focuses on the subject area, Algebra
. It deals with the basics, which some children have struggled to grasp in primary school.
If you have already read my first book, then you should be used to tutoring by now so feel free to skip this section and go straight onto the lessons.
Using this eBook
I would suggest reading the lesson plan and practising it yourself before you do it with your child. Gather together all the resources you will need. This shows your child you have prepared and believe it is an important part of their education and it will also give you more confidence to deliver the lesson, because you will know, in advance, what you need to do.
