Author

Nelda Moore Marmo

Born in Tahoka, Texas, she spent her formative years in Artesia, New Mexico, returning to Texas during the 1960s. A very loving, talented and beautiful Christian lady in her own right, she lives in Fort Worth with her husband, Richard, his dog, Magnum, and wonders how she manages to put up with either one of them while they try to drive her crazy...not intentionally, of course, but sometime those two just can’t help it.

    About The Author

    Prologue

When I, at the rather advanced age of 66, married Nelda on January 17, 2009, she had been divorced for some 36 years. Most of that time had been spent doing what so many divorced women do. Working and buying a house for herself that would be shared with her mother. Surviving, in other words. Eventually she would become a sole caregiver while her mother battled terminal cancer, raise a fantastic daughter and more. But what gave her the strength to handle everything that life threw at her was her Christian faith and involvement at the church that was only a stone’s throw…actually about a block and a half…from her house.

We were married in her church, the Haltom City Church of the Nazarene, Haltom City,Texas and they haven’t kicked me out yet, even though I’m Independent Baptist and always will be. Seriously, I was accepted by the members of her church from the very beginning while knowing I would always be a Baptist.

Nelda’s story of decades in one church, giving her strength, security and support really isn’t that unusual for many thousands of women who refuse to let the adversities of life beat them down. Instead, they draw on their faith in God and get the job done. What is unusual is that Nelda has put her experiences out there for others to learn from.

But that’s enough from me. I could tell you far more about the kind of woman she is but now it’s time to listen to Nelda. I’ll close this prologue by telling Nelda that I love her very much and am incredibly proud of her. –Richard Marmo.
