Gunnar D Ridgeback
My full name is Dykumos Witt’s Joint Venture, but to those who know me, I’m Gunnar, G Man, Big Gunz or the Gunzinator. Now I hate to admit this, but my mom and pops still feel the need to call me their little monkey. I’m almost three! How long must a dawg endure such embarrassment I ask. I’m a Rhodesian Ridgeback and we originate from Africa. Rhodesia to be exact, hence the name. We are bred to hold lions at bay. Now of course this is banned from Jersey but I do have dreams of one day digging to Africa to hold this great lion the books speak of at bay. Will it become a reality? Hmmmmmm, stay tune for the next chapter. I’m a laid back hound with a passion for sharing deep thoughts and digging deep holes. Just the usual dog stuff. What other kind of stuff you ask? Well, for one, I enjoy sleeping under the covers in the king size bed. Nothing so unusual there. I love my daily massages, the constant attention I get from all that visit me, I enjoy running hard and fast around a homemade lure course my pops made. One day I plan on being the #1 fastest courser in the world! Just say’n. I’m catered to and pampered by my family. They may say I’m a bit spoiled, demanding or even bossy, but hey, aren’t we all? In addition to all the basic stuff, I enjoy nothing more than rooking household items and stashing them in various hiding places. It keeps my humans on their toes..and me amused. Some may say this is thievery at its best. I would bark to differ. This is not thievery but borrowing items of my liking. I enjoy my time spent outdoors with my family and hanging with my bff (best furry friend) from next door. He and I enjoy discussing the days events through the gate. More of me to come in the future. For now I hope you enjoy my page and book I wrote...Oh yea my mom assisted in the writing as well. She may try and say she wrote it but don’t believe a word.

Through the Eyes of a Ridgeback:Gunnar's Deep Thoughts - Gunnar D Ridgeback
Dedication
This book is dedicated to the memory of my mom Donnie. She always supported me in any endeavor I took on. She had suggested many times that I write a book about Gunnar, so she could read it every night before bed. Since she had a way of making everyone else smile, this one is for her. I think she’s smiling now.

Introduction
Hello, my name is Lori and I’m owned by a Rhodesian Ridgeback. In a perfect world, one would say, no need to explain, but there’s still a large number of people out there that don’t know what a Ridgeback is, or for that matter, what they’re about.
Without sounding boastful, they’re different. They’re special, almost human. How so you ask? It would be truly impossible to list in one book, or even two. I can say however, they are definitely a hands on fully committed to breed. The RR needs constant interaction, otherwise this is an open invitation for disaster both for owner and dog.
You must have patience, patience, and you guessed right, more patience. Without that important qualification, you might as well buy a chia pet.
In addition to the above, add in time, love, and constant commitment to the health and well-being of your four legged human. Yes, you read right, I said human.
The Ridgeback is a personality, not a breed. With this in mind know that they are a strong and very intelligent personality. A defiant and high spirited personality. One that continually leaves you at the end of your day saying that was one hell of a roller coaster ride!
Have I confused anyone yet? I definitely see some hands. Alright, then try this, to truly understand a RR one must be brave enough to see the world through their eyes. Not just for a day but let’s live on the edge here and say one year. Any risk takers or adrenaline junkies?
Image No. cIf my Ridgeback could talk, he would say that our constant pampering, or catering to his every need is not enough. He would also say our king size bed he sleeps in is not big enough….FOR HIM, not for all three of us. He’s managed to slip into our lives at the most perfect time, and for some reason he knows this and is using this to his fullest. Once you’ve taken that first roller coaster ride, there’s no turning back. I warn you though, your life or heart will never be the same.

It’s not always about Mischief
I have to confess something. Even though what you read is all mischievous adventures, it’s all done for a reason. My Mom and Pops haven’t figured me out yet. The true me. The me that’s here for a special purpose, as all Ridgebacks are. I guess you could say we’re all angels sent from above, but instead of wings we have ridges. And those who don’t have ridges, don’t be so quick to judge. Their wings/secret ridges are within. They’re usually more laid back and serious about things. And from personal experience, WELL BEHAVED! I don’t know why or how, but it’s true.
I can be on my best also. I’m not always about mischief and thievery.
