Through The Eyes Of A Ridgeback - Lori Wittenwiler
Acknowledgements
This book would not be possible without the help of so many who shared their wonderful stories, through the eyes of their Ridgebacks. Rhodesian Ridgeback’s Universe is an amazing group I belong to. When I told them I was thinking about this third book with stories from around the world, they accepted the challenge. Thank you all and to the group administrators; Terry Mobbs, and Wendy Paans-Bijtenhoorn for running the best group possible! To my mentor Jack Cooper, thank you for all your beautiful poems. You’ve been through it since the first book and it’s now become a lucky tradition for me.
Pat Sandland, you’ve edited like no other. When my eyes read enough, you picked up what I missed. Thank you, my sister from another mister!
To Jeanine Henning for yet another amazing cover design. You are the BEST! Thank you to my dear friend Donna Theno-Lawson for your morning humor. Without our dysfunction, life would be boring! Thank you to Spirit of Ishtar for sharing your beautiful words along with Handsome Mr. Hubert’s photos. He is a lovely boy at eleven years’ young. Wisdom comes from all around and from all ages. To my beautiful Gunnar; without your silly antics, mischievous ways along with being my heart, these series books would never be possible. Mommy loves you!
I saved the best for last. To my son Dustin and his beautiful family. Your love and support has meant more to me than you’ll ever know. I’m so proud of the man and father you’ve become. I love you.
Introduction
Dog boneHello, my name is Gunnar and as you probably already know, I’m a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Not just any Ridgeback, but a VERY spoiled and catered to kinda guy. In addition to the obvious, I’m a great lion hunter. Not buying that huh. Well? How about I’m the best, if not the GREATEST squirrel hunter! True story. Once while deep in sleep, Walter the thorn in my ridge butt strolled right past my nose. Thinking I was fast asleep he commenced to doing what squirrels do best, toss their nuts!
I woke from my sleep and with one massive leap, I chased that fur ball straight up a tree; and to seal the deal, I lifted my leg and gave that tree my famous Wiz of Worry! But I’m getting away from the whole reason for this book.
For the past five years I’ve shared my stories, dreams, along with deep thoughts. Now that I’m six I wanted to share some of my friend’s stories from around the world. Hey, I’m still about the saying It’s always about me
but I thought it would be nice to share some new adventures from my fellow Ridgeback friends from not just the United States, but from all around the world. We’ll share the good, the mischievous (my favorite), along with the sad.
See it doesn’t matter where we’re from, just that we all share that one special trait…unconditional love.
If you’ve ever dreamt of seeing the world, this book is for you. You’ll find all the beauty as told through the Eyes of a Ridgeback.

without it how would a dog survive?
They wax the floor and lay down rugs,
