thought Melanie as she watched the numbers on the computer’s clock change from 11:59 to 12:00. She logged off her computer and grabbed her purse. Melanie fell into step behind everyone else who was leaving to eat in the cafeteria, vending machines, or just to sit outside. Normally, Melanie would be purchasing a sandwich, wrap, or salad from the cafeteria, but today she had different plans; she was going on a lunch date. Thomas, from the IT department had asked her out. Up until three days ago, no one had ever asked her out. Melanie wondered what was wrong with this picture.
