My heart was pounding in my chest as I clumsily tried to slide the keycard into the hotel room door while still trying to hold my new bride. And she wasn't making it easy on my either. With her tiny arms around my neck and her body supported in my arms, she kicked her feet with glee as she leaned back, letting her auburn hair hang towards the floor as she laughed.

Suzie smiled up at me as the door beeped angrily. Come on Trent, just stick it in the slot. In and out, nice and smooth. You can do that, right?

I felt myself blushing at her words. Partly out of embarrassment due to the door's continual mocking, but also because her innuendo wasn't lost on me. I knew what she expected of me once we got into the room, and it was a moment I'd been dreading. I didn't even know why. This was my wedding night. This was our honeymoon. And as soon as I could get the door open, Suzie and I would finally seal the deal. Why was I so nervous?

As the door beeped and flashed red for the fifth time, I threw my head back and huffed angrily. I'm never going to get this damn door open, I thought as I closed my eyes and tried to center myself. Maybe that's a good thing.

I tried to shake the thought from my head. Suzie and I were meant to be together. Everyone said so. My friends, my family, my pastor. They all said we were right for each other. And as soon as Suzie turned eighteen, I found a pair of first class tickets to Vegas on my pillow, with my gram gram's engagement ring sitting on top. There was no note, no instructions, but the meaning was clear. It was time to get out of my parent's house and start a life with my girlfriend, the cute redhead from next door.

We'd grown up together, me and Suzie. We built tree forts in the back woods of Georgia. We fished every weekend and camped together every summer. When puberty hit us both, my parents only pushed me harder towards our neighbor. And with her mother working two jobs just to make rent, Suzie's mom was glad my parents were keeping an eye on her daughter.

But as she grew into one of the most stunning women I'd ever seen, with full, pouty lips, breasts that strained against her skin tight tops, and hips that just drew in your eyes as she walked, my interest in her slowly died. She became a girly girl, happily spinning around in flowing summer dresses while shunning all of our former outdoor activities. We still spent most of our free time together, but it wasn't the same anymore.

She was everything most people would want, but nothing I truly did. I was going through the motions without even knowing why. And as soon as I managed to open the door, I would finally have to take Suzie to bed. There was no more running from it. I couldn't get away with telling her we had to wait for marriage now. Not with rings on our fingers.

The door beeped again and another sigh slipped from my mouth.
