About this ebook

While this story can be read as a standalone title, you don't want to miss the exciting beginning of Sigurd and Aoife's relationship in "In Thrall - Captured by the Viking", out now!

Days after being taken by Vikings, Aoife finds himself on a ship bound for Sigurd's home. With little else to do, the two come closer together as the ship moves farther and farther away from the life Aoife once knew. And as the Viking ship battles through rough seas, Aoife seeks comfort in Sigurd's strong arms.

But when a rogue wave threatens the ship and everyone on it, many among the crew turn against Sigurd, blaming him and his thrall for their misfortune. Now Aoife's life hangs in the balance, and his only hope for survival is Sigurd. But to save his thrall, he must turn against the very men he leads.

This 10,000 word short story contains explicit coupling, multiple partners, humiliation, and scenes of historical violence that might upset some readers.

In Thrall – Captured by the Viking

I shivered as I leaned over the side of the ship, my stomach roiling as the waves rocked us from side to side. The ocean spray coming off of the waves only made me that much colder, but after learning what would happen to me if I lost my stomach again on the deck of the ship, the ice cold water was the lesser of two evils.

We had been four ships when we left the rocky shores of my homeland. But as we set out across the sea, the boats had separated, each taking their own route back to where they came. Now we were alone, with the longship cutting through the rough seas like the serpent that adorned the bow.

The ship pitched again as a wave slammed into the bow. Men cheered as the hull dipped into the ocean, wetting the deck with the freezing water. And as the sea raged around us, I knew the Lochlannach around me were enjoying the near constant threat of death as we drifted in the stormy waters. But while they laughed, I threw up once more, with my sickness disappearing almost immediately in the tossing waters.

Before I could push myself back to sitting, strong hands gripped my shoulders, pulling me backwards. My body tensed and my heart set to pounding, but when I heard the familiar voice of Sigurd, I settled.

You cannot show weakness like this, he said as he rubbed my shoulders gently. The men have already taken notice.

The sea does not sit well with me, I replied weakly. Know that I do not enjoy this sickness any more than you.

I turned around under Sigurd's arms so I could look on the only kind face I'd seen in days. And when I did, my stomach went to roiling again, but this time for very different, and confusing, reasons. I'd only known the man I called master for a few days, but in that time, I'd grown to enjoy his face.

Golden hair spilled to his shoulders in ringlets while ice blue eyes seemed to look at me, and beyond me at the same time. A thick beard of gold hugged his cheeks, except where a scarred strip of skin cut down from his ear to his chin. No hair would grow where a blade had kissed him. But it was the warming smile that Sigurd wore whenever we looked upon each other that made my feelings towards the man so confusing.

He was my captor. He was the leader of men who destroyed my home before taking me prisoner. He was a killer. But he was also my protector. He alone stood for me when the
