Abby took another drink of water from the fountain and tried to catch her breath. She'd stayed and ran a few laps after every other member of the casual soccer club had already left. She'd wanted to make the more serious school team, but it was only her freshman year, and they hadn't enough spots open for her to try out.

Still annoyed, she entered the expansive locker room, finding it quiet and empty save for one or two girls several rows away.

Thankful for the opportunity to change in private, she slipped a towel on and headed for the spacious communal shower area. The wide yellow tiled area was still a little foggy from the recent mass showers, but she was still able to see two of her teammates in the back corner, showering together under a single stream of water.

She froze.

The two girls were laughing and chattering away. It seemed casual enough. Was it really that weird to shower with a friend in a communal area like this one? She frowned, wondering if it would actually be weirder to shower far apart when there were only two people in the entire space. Awkward, even.

Plus, she was new to college. Maybe that's just how chill everyone was here? Her small town didn't exactly have the best intel on the outside world.

Hey Abby, one of them called politely - the blonde, another center player like herself.
