    Foreword

I would like to thank my wife Sirisha for motivating me to write and my mother Radha who keeps blessing and praying for me from the heavens.

Some of us come to a point in our lives where a certain sense of disquiet sets in in spite of things being seemingly perfect - Wonderful family, great job, financial security, close to relatives and living in a city of your choice. Yet, a sense of dissatisfaction sets in for no apparent reason. Some people call it a mid-life crisis and different people have different ways of tackling this situation. I tried various options and decided that they best way to tackle this would be through giving vent to my thoughts by creating and painting a virtual world of my own, distanced from reality - A fictitious world where supernatural creatures live and breathe. Maybe this is my childhood penchant for superheroes re-manifesting.

This book is my first, humble attempt at creating a superhero whose characterization is woven together from my dreams. A superhero with shades of grey. I look at this book as the first of a continuing series of adventures of this superhero prince.

Dear Reader - Thanks for buying this book and trusting in me, read on and I hope this superhero finds a place in your heart.

Origins and the Battle of Nakshatra

Prince Surya woke from his afternoon slumber and looked out into the wilderness from the window of his royal palace. He was feeling well rested and as he gazed into the horizon was filled with a strange yearning to go on one of his now famous solo hunting expeditions. The impulsive prince gave in to this strange stirring in his heart and called for his attendants - Who's there? A servant came running into the prince's bedroom with a bowed head, careful not to meet the brash prince's gaze headlong. The prince said -Get my horse ready and bring my weapons along with my armor, I am going on a hunt. It was a strange request at this time of the day with just a few minutes left for sunset, but the prince was known for his love for hunting and was sometimes gone for months at a stretch with no clue of his whereabouts. Legend has it that the prince was possessed with supernatural Shakti which allowed him to survive these dangerous solo hunting expeditions. There were also many myths surrounding the magical adventures of the prince during his time away.

The attendant nodded obediently and stepped away. Once the armor was brought in, two girls from the prince's harem stepped in to wrap the armor around Surya and arm him. They began disrobing him first, and as they removed his upper garment, the younger girl who was new to the harem let out an exclamation upon seeing the strange sight. A strange blue light was emanating from the prince's neck and chest. The older harem girl did not seem to bother with this; she merely gave the younger girl an admonishing look and continued preparing the prince. The younger girl soon fell in line, although she could not make anything out of what she had just witnessed.

The prince who towered over seven feet in height was an even more imposing figure clad in full battle armor, he had a unique way of placing his battle axe and his sword behind his back and his arrow quivers on both his front thighs, when the accepted practice amongst warriors was to carry these afore mentioned weapons in the exact opposite fashion. He slung the bow around his shoulder and bounded out of his room and his palace to his waiting black stallion - Bala. The prince jumped on to his waiting horse and galloped away through the boundary gates of the magnificent
