    Sharing Lindsay

Lindsay let her eyes linger on Carson Sinclair’s tight butt with a tingle of guilty pleasure as he walked to the front of the class to turn in his lab sheets. She knew that the wicked thoughts filling her mind were sinful, but he was so pretty she just couldn’t help herself. On his way back she preened and twirled a strand of her dark amber hair, but as always he didn’t seem to see her. Frowning, she breathed a frustrated sigh and slumped on her stool.

Her lab partners and best friends, Nick Fraser and Tom Becket, traded a knowing look behind her back and rolled their eyes in disgust. While they weren’t related, they had the same muscular build, coal black hair, and cool gray eyes, and people often confused them for brothers. For an entire year now they had put up with Lindsay’s crush on Carson, and her antics were starting to wear thin. A minute later the bell rang and they followed her out into the hall, both noting the longing gaze she cast after Carson’s retreating back.

Why don’t you just give it up, Lin? Tom asked.

She gave him an innocent look. Give what up?

Oh, come on. You’ve been flirting with him all year, and he still doesn’t know you’re alive.

He does so! I talked to him last week.

    I was just making conversation.

    Pathetic, Tom said.

    Sad, Nick echoed.

    And tragically hopeless, Tom finished.

Lindsay’s face took on that stubborn look that they had become so well acquainted with over the last ten years. Ever since the incident in third grade when Chansey Billings had pulled Lindsay’s hair on the playground at recess the three of them had been inseparable. The resulting fight had resulted in twin black eyes for Chansey, a memorable trip to the principal’s office for Tom and Nick, and a love in Lindsay’s heart for her two heroes that had never faltered in all the years since.
