    Dedication

Though all our children are dearly beloved to us, I would like to dedicate this book to our youngest son Tony.

Tony grew up in more of a fish-bowl atmosphere than the others, primarily because of his age. From the very start, he always seemed to march to the beat of a different drum. It would require an entire book to chronicle all the mischievous things which Tony did. Although at times he was a very trying child, his innocence and tender heart shone through like a beacon.

I am now sitting on the ferry, crossing from Stranraer, Scotland, to Larne, in Northern Ireland. His mother and I can still remember vividly losing track of Tony on one such crossing when he was only twelve years old. The weather was horrendous, throwing the ship from side to side like a cork, the bow rising and falling as the waves sprayed the salt water fifty feet in the air from the waves cresting at over thirty feet around us. Suddenly it dawned on me that Tony was taking a very long time to go to the bathroom! In a panic, I frantically searched for our wayward son, fearing the worst when a search of every lounge and passenger area in the ship turned up nothing. In desperation I decided to have a quick look on the deck, there to my amazement, I found Tony at the bow of the boat, with a death grip on the railing, grinning from ear to ear as the waves broke over him!

I was not amused! He was soaked to the skin in forty degree weather, his mother was worrying herself to death! I was nearly in tears as I searched desperately for him, we had imagined all sorts of scenarios, yet here he was, in sheer bliss as he challenged the ferocity of the waves, and in his mind, he had won!

I still have a mental picture of Tony, a strapping a six foot three inch 17 years old, oblivious to his surroundings, looking behind him as he walked. He nearly ran over an elderly lady who was trying frantically to get out of his way! When he saw her and realized he had inadvertently placed her in harms way, the tears suddenly welled up in his eyes as he apologized profusely.

Tony is a grown man with a lovely wife and four precious children, but he is still momma’s little baby boy, and the pride of his daddy’s eye. But son, we have come to the conclusion that we had never realized what a special prize God has bestowed on us, and what a neat little kid you always were.

As my age creeps up on me I am keenly aware that my strong disciplinary nature undoubtedly placed far too many restrictions on all my children. Would I change anything if I had it to do all over again? Probably not, but I have learned that I should have had a greater appreciation for the many strong and wonderful qualities which they possess, helping to shape the destiny of them all.

    Each one of them is unique in every way, yet they share one common bond. They are all extremely kind and considerate of their mother and I. Their respect for me is truly humbling. Not long ago one of the precocious teenagers traveling with us dared to question my integrity, it was only in jest, but an improper challenge nonetheless. I can still hear myself saying these words;

My children are all adults, and I have never heard one of them utter a single word of disrespect! Even my oldest daughter, who definitely has a mind of her own, would never consider uttering such impudence, even facetiously! Any one of them would likely be a sincere threat to the person who would dare to disrespect their father in their presence!"

Sitting here, months after the event of which I speak, I still believe the veracity of that statement, which brings tears to my eyes, as my heart swells in pride and the mental picture of each of their faces in my mind, provokes a sense of love that overwhelms me.

Karen, Kathleen, Terri Ann, Martin Lynn, and last but not least, Tony, I lovingly dedicate this book to you ALL!

With all my love, your father’

    Acknowledgment

It is only fitting that I should acknowledge the integral part that The Tabernacle in Gadsden, Alabama has played in our ministry. The Pastors, Dr. Don and Jeanie Arnold have been personal friends for twenty five years. Brother Arnold has served as the President of the Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministers International, based out of Dallas, Texas for the past twelve years.

From the very first year that we came to the British Isles, the Arnold’s became partners with us, sharing our vision and our concern for the younger generation. The Tabernacle, as a church embraced us as a part of their family.

In 1998, after a series of debilitating strokes, Bro. Arnold urged me to consider our future, since we have no retirement funds languishing away in savings, or anyplace else for that matter he was concerned about how we would survive if we were not able to do the work of the ministry. My wife and I sought the face of God and I determined that our work in Britain was not quite finished. The Arnold’s response to my declaration of faith was to sacrifice the air miles they had been saving, and not only provided our tickets, they provided FIRST CLASS tickets! It’s the first time in our entire ministry that we were ever booked to fly anything other than cattle car!

Jeanie Arnold is one of those rare individuals who can take a dollar and turn it into ten! She has always been involved in some sort of business dealings. As big as her heart is, it is a miracle that they have anything, yet God honors their generosity, for Bro. Arnold never argues over Jeanie’s liberality, especially toward us.

For the past several years they have largely taken the responsibility for our airline tickets and the major portion of our fuel costs. It seems that missionary work is out of favor with most churches in America, yet God has given us a few who still consider the work of the Lord a priority!

    Thank you!

    Forward

Just one touch, such a profound statement, I am simply cut to the core, just by reading the dedication and the introduction of this Book. You just get an overwhelming desire to develop your own relationships and a feeling to express your love to those dearest to you.

There is such depth, but put in such a simple way that is food for those on meat, but also for those on milk.

This book is a great reference tool to have, and to know, what it means to be transformed by just one touch from the Master. He can heal, restore and change your life forever.
