About this ebook

You cannot read one of the Apostle Paul's epistles without noticing that on every page he constantly points us toward the necessity of walking in the Spirit. He never lets up. The idea that all Christians should live their lives, down to the smallest detail, in a Spirit-led manner pervades the New Testament to such an extent that it al

    Dedication

There is, as one looks at my life and the people who influenced me, one person who stands far above all others – my mother. Roselee Sarah Reagan was born in 1932 and died of cancer in 2008. Like all of us she dealt with trials, hurts and traumas, made good decisions and bad decisions. She sinned and was forgiven of those sins by our Lord Jesus Christ. She led me to know Jesus when I was only six years old and taught me that He must be central to our lives and involved in every step we take in this life. Through her I learned that the Bible is true without exception and that through the word of God we can learn to know our Lord. She led me into receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit as soon as I was ready to receive it. My dear mother was a woman of God and the godly heritage she gave to me then, drives me now, so many years later. This book is dedicated to her and to her memory.

    Acknowledgement

Sometimes I wonder if my wife’s name should be on the front cover of my books right along with mine. Ruth, full of infinite patience, is my sounding board. Everything I write gets run past her and her input is invaluable. She is particularly talented at finding passages that I understand just fine, but, written the way they are written, breed confusion rather than clarity. Ruth’s insight lets me correct those passages, making the book more readable. She is also a fantastic proof reader. If you catch a mistake, it’s likely because I didn’t listen to her. The book of Proverbs asks the question, An excellent wife, who can find? Well, I did!

    Other Books

Understanding the Prophetic Nature The Bible tells us that Jesus gave special gifts to the church (Eph 4:11). Those gifts were men whom He had chosen for the special task of caring for His people. A specially crafted nature/character/personality-type goes with each of these five gifts (Ps 139:16; Jer 1:5). We are most familiar with the nature that one finds in men who are called to the office of a pastor, but few understand the prophet and what drives him. Prophets can be hard to get along with. Or not. It all depends. Prophets have, for the most part, been silenced in the churches of America and because of that there is a missing segment of ministry that, should it ever be restored, will bless and enhance the church and her mission. This book attempts to help the church understand that (sometimes) irascible prophet and urges pastors to accept this gift that Jesus has offered them.

    The Gift of Tongues

A Tool in the Hand of God

The spiritual gift of speaking in tongues is, perhaps, the most mysterious of the gifts God has given to His people. It may also be that it is the strangest of the supernatural manifestations of those gifts. Still, the scriptures make it clear that God intends for speaking in tongues to be a part of the Christian experience. What follows below is an attempt to bring to the Christian a better understanding of this gift. It is targeted at both those
