Conall ambled to the corral. His prize bull looked at him, and then wandered over. He scratched between the bull's horns, just the way Old Twister liked. Sometimes Conall forgot his bull's fancy pedigree name. The nickname came from the bull's youth, when the cows were brought over and he'd kick up a storm to get to them.

You have no idea how lucky you are, Conall said. He wagged his finger at the great beast. You get your ladies brought right to your doorstep. Others of us have to try and find love for ourselves.

She still asking about you selling the ranch?

Jackson's voice was serious, and Conall nodded. Yep. Offering a tidy sum, too. But this isn't just a business to me. This is my home, and you, Annie, and the boys are my family.

Not the big, bad, lone wolf anymore, Conall. Took your time, my friend.

I'm worth the wait. But thanks for being patient. Conall tried for a casual tone, but saw Jackson wasn't buying it. Their friendship meant a lot to him. He changed tack. "She's worth a lot to the ranch if she'll buy Twister's semen. I don't have another like Twister for stud. The other bulls are
