How to communicate effectively?
To answer this question, it is better we start with another question.
Why do you communicate?
We communicate because it is a part of our social interaction. We communicate so that we can make ourselves understood and at the same time understand others. It is one of the basic ties that bind the social fabric of our lives.
Imagine yourself in a foreign country. Not being able to understand what the locals are saying and also your inability to express yourself can be downright frustrating. Since you do not know the local language, you resort to using impromptu sign language, pointing to a map or pointing to yourself or pointing at a picture. Doesn't this bring to mind the image of how a primitive being or animal would try to communicate?
That's exactly the point of communication. To connect with other people so that you become a part of this wonderful thing we call society.
