About this ebook
Welcome to the Olymp-i-a Peace Challenge! You are about to embark on a journey of discovery! In this journey you will strengthen your ability to appreciate and create peace within your own life as well as the lives of others.
This “notepad” e-book series provides a daily motivational challenge to engage you and others in the practice of positive ideas and actions for peace. The goal is to strengthen your life skills and habits supporting peace. The “i” and the “a” in “Olymp-i-a” stand for positive “ideas” and “actions.” Each e-book in this series contains a new and distinct 31 days of positive ideas and actions for peace that were generated and recorded on a daily basis by the author while taking the Olymp-i-a Peace Challenge over the course of a year. (At the time of this e-book publication the author is in her second year of the daily Challenge).
You can begin the Challenge on any day of the year. The best time to start is now!
The e-books in the Olymp-i-a Challenge series are dynamic!! You help make them come alive! They engage you to "read one, do one, share one." When you read a motivational idea or action in the e-book, you can use e-reader annotation features and social e-reading applications to engage in the Challenge and jot down your own positive ideas and actions for peace (and, if you choose, share and discuss ideas and actions with others), all within the margins of your e-book. Of course, these functions are not required in order to benefit from the e-book. The Challenge is your journey and your adventure.
Positive change starts with small, simple steps. Each positive idea or action for peace moves us forward and practice makes us stronger. By supporting peace in our lives, we promote peace in the world and vice versa. As we all grow stronger, together we impact peace on a global scale! Join in the journey! Discover peace!
Lesa R. Walker
As a bit of history, I am a physician and have worked in the field of public health and preventive medicine for over 30 years. I obtained my MD from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and my MPH from the University of Texas School of Public Health in Houston. I am board certified in General Preventive Medicine and Public Health and completed my Preventive Medicine/Public Health residency at the University of Michigan. I worked for 24 years as Medical Director of the Texas Children with Special Health Care Needs Services Program at the Texas Department of State Health Services and feel very passionate and committed to quality of care for children and adults with disabilities. My passions in life are diverse. I enjoy the practice of Kung Fu and Tai Chi and have earned a 4th degree black belt. I have traveled with volunteer service groups to Ghana and Kenya, connecting with and learning from the communities and cultures. I have an artistic side and have published some poetry, a painting, and a short film. Several years ago, I began working on strategies and curricula to engage children, youth, and adults in the practice of positive ideas and actions for health, green-living, and peace. I believe each of us has the ability to help make the world a better place if we take positive steps to strengthen health, green-living, and peace in our everyday lives. We get stronger in these areas through the power of practice. Whatever we practice will get stronger. The more often we practice, the stronger we become. The daily practice of positive ideas and actions for health, green-living, and peace has power to change lives. Then, together, we change the world! Join me in the OLYMP-I-A Challenge journey! You will come to know me, my passions, my ideas and actions through the OLYMP-I-A Health Challenge, the OLYMP-I-A Green Challenge, and the OLYMP-I-A Peace Challenge e-book series.
