    It was the cold month of December in the town of Pittsburgh, California. It was the month which most of the children waited for. In that same place stood an orphanage named Holy Molly. Miss Pat, the home mother of the orphanage, raised 15 parentless kids. One of them was Walter. He was 8 years old, fair skinned and big-eyed. He was jolly, friendly and pleasant-mannered but at times bit too stubborn and ill-tempered. He disliked animals, especially cats.

    Sunday, two days before Christmas, had finally come. It was the time when Holy Molly entertained couples who would have liked to adopt. The kids dressed nicely and behaved appropriately so that they can be chosen. Walter put his best clothes on and went to Miss Pat.
