By the time B. P. Draper got around to Bubby IV, it is obvious that he had improved as a writer. The flow of his writing is better, as is the character development. Fortunately, he continues to indulge in his self-depreciating humor that has made the series so funny. The standoff that was implied in Bubby III meets all the expectations... assuming your expectations were low. That is not to say it isn't funny; it is. But if the story were to follow your expectations, it wouldn't really be that funny, now would it? --Braden Erp

Chapter One

So there our two heroes stood. Victorious, brave, valiant, and all that other good stuff people say about superheroes. They had defeated the evil that plagued Earth, and so they stood there, on that roof, over-looking the town. Yes, they stood there, as many heroes might, and surveyed that place which they had so often referred to as home. Yep, they were definitely standing proud. Just standing there. Yes, they were.

You know, we’ve been standing here for a while.

It’s that gosh darn author. He takes forever to write his stories. Jeez! whined AA7. I’d kick him, but he’d probably kill me off!

"Yeah. How long have we been standing here?"

Half a year or something?

"See, it’s been that long by his time; but according to us, it’s only been an hour or so, Bubby explained. As far as anyone knows, we just got done fighting."

So whose time frame do we go by?

I don’t know, do you?

I have no idea either, that is why I asked. Why does this have to be so complicated?

You’d think he’d have hurried up and finished this book about us so we could get back to work.

So, what do you think is gonna happen this time around? AA7 asked.

I’ve heard a rumor that someone is gonna die.

Probably you.

Impossible, I’m the star!

What better way to go? You’ll have died saving the world. That would be pretty heroic, or so I would think. Especially if you went down in a ball of flames.

Why not you? You could die! Bubby shouted.

Nah. I’ve already died once. Authors only let you do that kind of thing so many times.
