About this ebook

A journey through the corridors of past, present, and what may be. What lurks in the darkness where only the brave tread? Joy, sorrow, longing, loss, devotion... and ever more questions. Set sail with Steven Disney in his second book of poetry, and drift in the seas of the mind.

Please be aware this is not suitable for children, due to sensitive subjects of sexuality and dark imagery.

Author

Steven Disney

What to say about the author? Steven lives in Tennessee with his family and two dogs. For the most part he spends his time trying anything that tickles his fancy and figuring out the point of life. He is found fixing up his sailboat or learning to ride his motorcycle. When not conquering the land and the water he is found with a bottle of wine, rum, or absinthe and talking to his precious pups. A love for laughter and constant battle with depression fuels his drive in writing. He hopes that you have enjoyed his works. Currently, he has two collections of poems under his name, with more likely to follow.

    Acknowledgments

Whom to thank? How about my readers; for you few always lift my spirits when you have a statement. My friends for listening as I ramble so often. My MOTHER, whom I do love really, truly, honestly I do. My father, for letting me pursue some of my ideas and I do love you too. Shannan, though times are hard I am still here for you. Angel, for being around and listening to my rants. Judy, for the determination that I have not seen in many people. Teresa, my publisher, for dealing with my demands and a second book. To those few that have touched my life in the past year, I hope more stay but to those that do not I still had a brief time with you.

The power of this time is in acceptance of each other.

It is not in tolerance, for one can only tolerate so much.

    Editor/Publisher's note

When Steven Disney contacted me with word that his second poetry book was ready for submission, I was busy with classwork and editing a fantasy novel for another applicant. Even though I was busy, and it meant a larger load, I was very happy to receive the news as I had been aware that he was working on another collection and holding a place for him.

Once again, it was an interesting journey through sections of the mind that most try to keep under wraps. For this reason, I knew it was important to help him see it to print, as the act of putting it out there for the public reminds people that... they are not alone in the things they feel.

Yearning, internal screaming, rage... we all feel these from time to time, though each experience is unique due to our backgrounds.

Editing poetry is always an interesting experience, as with poetry, the layout is an integral part. By changing the position or spacing of a line, you can change the meaning and flow accidentally, so it is always a challenge to ensure that the poet's voice is not altered. I hope that he is satisfied and that the objective of retaining his voice has been achieved.

As with his previous volume, some of the poems are not suitable for children. Please use your discretion. Neither poet nor publisher assume any responsibility if this volume is read by a young reader.

    The 80's Made Me Gay

    Parents bowling on Saturday night,

children off to the kid area with you.

David Bowie so sexy in Labyrinth, look at you,

    I can see your religion.

    Head bands and punk rockers,

teeny bop music like the Bangles.

Listen to the world as it starts to spin faster,

    so many men loving men.

Women committed to women coming out

and the people making a voice.

Leg warmers, really that could turn anyone.

Thunder Cats, oh those leotards were just hot.

Listen to the beat, that quick quick beat.

Watch the people dance, dance as music invades the TV.

    Watch as sickness takes
