    Chapter one

Linda and Raymond were classmates in secondary school. Linda was a fair, quiet and beautiful girl with dimples. She was of average height and had an attractive smile. Michael was a dark and tall boy. He was so handsome and many girls always argued if he was the most handsome boy in class. While they were in school, Linda had a crush on Raymond. She told a friend who discouraged her from telling Raymond her feelings for this reason; she decided to keep the way she was feeling to herself. She decided to remain quiet as she wanted to preserve her pride as a woman. She stayed like that but she was dying in silence. In school, she was always looking at Raymond and trying to make him recognize her. She did all she could to the extent that she called just his name whenever she wanted to answer a question in class. She made many attempts for him to see her but he did not. When they went to the next class, she did everything to sit by him. This was just a step towards her success. In terms of academics, Raymond was just an average student while Linda was a genius. They were to go for a study trip in class and they were to use buses for this trip. The teacher had to divide them into groups of twenty based on their sitting positions. Since Linda and Raymond were sitting next to each other, they went in the same bus. It was on the field trip ground that they started talking to each other. He did not get an explanation the teacher had given and so he asked Linda who explained the whole thing to him so well that he saw she was good academically. From that time on, they started greeting each other and always read together. Linda always came to Raymond’s house so she could explain things to him. They spent time together talking about academics and their families. Up to this point, Linda was silent and did not say a word about her feelings to Raymond. While she helped Raymond academically, Raymond assisted her financially. He always gave her transport fair back home whenever she ran short of money. At this point, they were still in secondary school. They could not explain to anybody when they started dating. All they could say was their closeness brought them together and the rest of the story was history at that time. Their relationship was admired by many in their class and many other relationships tried to copy from them. Her friend who had discouraged her from telling the boy her feelings was very happy to know the way things had turned out. They had a fantastic love life in secondary school. He never allowed any other boy in class to stand too close to her for a long time. He knew she was intelligent and people were always bound to be around her but he did not expect most of them to be boys. In fact there was so much jealousy between them as Linda also wanted to be everywhere he was. The relationship was fine and through their relationship, many girls also believed they could still love. There was a rumor that a certain boy in class called Denis was making advances at Linda. When Raymond got to hear about this, he became so jealous for it was said the boy was also handsome. Raymond confronted the boy and warned him seriously to stay away from his girlfriend. Their relationship had a lot of jealousy but this was good for it is always said any relationship without jealousy cannot last long. Jealousy in a relationship is good but it should not be exaggerated. It took Linda a long time to convince her boyfriend that she was not planning to accept Denis’ request. It was not a lie that the boy had been toasting her but the truth was she had refused. She had told him she was not interested and that she had a boyfriend already. To her the boy never loved her and she believed he was only interested in her because he had seen she was very intelligent. Many girls in class also wanted to be her friend because they saw and heard of her academic success. She was very selective in making friends and her only friend was Juliette. Juliette was the person she first told her feelings for Raymond. In fact she was the only person she could confide in and all the others were just classmates. Juliette had been her neighbor for many years and they did virtually everything together that most times people even thought they were sisters. Despite the warning, Denis never gave up. He kept talking to her and was even willing to be just a friend. He decided to take things easy for he did not want trouble. The only problem Linda had with her relationship was her mother. The poor woman became so worried about the fact that her daughter had started becoming a ghost in the house. She kept complaining about her coming back home late and her absence in the house. She did not tell her mother she had started dating Raymond. Her mother only knew Raymond to be her very good friend who always came to the house so that they could study. Linda’s father did not know anything that was going on. In fact, he did not even know about Raymond for he was never around. It is not surprising to see that mother’s know more about their children’s activities than fathers.

    Chapter two

When the secondary school days were over, they got to high school and worked hard to get into the university. They got into the university but studied completely different things. They had nothing in common academically and could only communicate through phones or whenever they met coincidentally in school. They were in different faculties and had no connection at all. They mostly met in their various houses. Linda being the woman did most of the visits as she was the one who often went to Raymond’s house. She did a lot of sacrifices for her relationship and she was expecting the best from it. She encouraged her man to always go to class and to pay a little attention.
