CHAPTER 1.

Year 271

Mira was arduously rowing her boat through the Clufton Sea where the dragons hunted fish and the hunters hunted dragons. Going there probably meant certain doom. She was in a state of fear in the dark of night. The dragons did not treat women any better than men. All had the same fiery fate.

Rowing was making every muscle in her body sore.

Mira wore a hooded brown cloak of coarse cloth, but her long brownish-blonde hair could be seen. Hidden under the cloak, she wore a white silk blouse with a tight bodice over a full green skirt.

She coughed to clear her throat as warm air smelling of smoke blew in her face. This meant the dragon was near. I'm here to submit myself to you! she shouted confidently into the thick fog and clouds.

Was she just talking to emptiness?

She shouted again, I want to be one of your women! I want to join your harem!

She turned her ear to a noise. There was the normal noises of water rushing past the boat and the wind in the distance.

She didn't see the dragon coming, but suddenly she was above the little boat with sharp talons holding her tightly about her arms and torso. After only a couple seconds, the water was a thousand feet below them and disappearing rapidly in the fog. Mira moved her hand to feel the smooth, black claws that held her. She smiled.

CHAPTER 2.

When the vicious, snarling dragon let go of her, they were at an entrance to a cave in the face of a mountain impossibly high up. No one could ever rescue her there. She took several gasps of the thin freezing air, catching her breath and adjusting her clothing.

She snuck down a deep tunnel that seemed to be getting smaller. At the end was a glowing light. There, she saw it.
