    Frannie closed her textbook and slid it into the backpack by her chair. Her first week of classes was now officially over, and she was happy to say that she had survived. College was a completely different world from what she had experienced last year in high school. Everything seemed to go at a much faster pace, and she was already feeling overwhelmed by the amount of homework she was going to have to do this weekend. Being eighteen and on her own was turning out to be such a bummer!

    It didn't help that the only real boyfriend she had ever had was going to school at the state university instead of the local college. He had gotten a full scholarship because of his football talent, and Frannie's family couldn't afford the tuition there. At least that's what they told her. Secretly she believed they wanted to break them up. Well, they succeeded with that. Josh told her before he left that he thought they should see other people.
