About this ebook
In today’s modern society, what is known regarding the root causes of deviant behavior? Not just the actions taken but rather the underlying causes. Further when such acts are clearly identified, how far does one’s responsibility extend to intercede and prevent such conduct? We all know those among us who have ignored the rules, hurt others, and broken the law. Sometimes we intervene while in other instances our mind is closed off and sealed tight, avoiding such unsightly matters and hope for the best.
In the case of Daryl Chesterfield these are exactly the circumstances that define his world, and have since... well since birth. Attempts were made to assimilate the problem into proper society, none showing any promise. Failing in that, ignorance was taken up, assuming the problem was ultimately benign – little more than an insignificant scar on the face of the earth. That was until the problem showed its true depth as attempted murder was added to the list of sins committed.
Prior to the murderous attacks no real attempt to address the situation had been put forth. But when the focus became Mr. Chesterfield’s own life, a full analysis became essential... the results clear and disturbing. The problem ultimately had its roots in a genus that was damaged... a part of the genetic pool poisoned beyond hope of retrieval. In this particular circumstance no program of reconciliation or rehabilitation could be employed with any hope of success.
Ultimately the only acceptable cure was to expunge and exclude. To quarantine at all costs. But how is such a sentence to be exercised when the problem’s close and intertwined relationship with Daryl is taken into consideration? Requesting the assistance of local authorities was not an option... to avoid accusations of insanity if nothing else.
As the count of the dead increase Daryl must accept that inaction will result in losing everything. His freedom, the beautiful Rebecca Montague... even his life. Further, failure to move forward may result in the truth being ignored and find Daryl unjustly convicted of murders he had no part in planning or executing, no matter how damning the evidence.
