About this ebook

Pam was going under for the last time. Empty nest syndrome left her divorced and alone, without support, and a single misfortune caused her to be gradually stripped of virtually all of her possessions. The end was coming... soon.

Jasper Jernigan discovered her and found that he couldn't stand by and allow that to occur -- but it wasn't totally up to him. Pam is seriously proud and carries with her some serious emotional baggage, ESPECIALLY where sex is concerned! Jasper discovers that in spite of indications to the contrary, Pam harbors an intense sexuality -- but his efforts to bring it forth cause Pam humiliation and embarrassment and drive a wedge between them.

Will Pam's stubborn pride destroy her in spite of his efforts to save her?

This is an adult romance. Although there are several vivid sexual encounters depicted in it, it is not a 'stroke' story. The adult content follows the plot, and therefore isn't immediate and constant. You'll find that it is hot when it is supposed to be...

    Rock Chick Rescue
    4 Stars

Once again I'm in the minority in preferring this book to the Indy and Lee's story. Don't get me wrong, Rock Chick is an entertaining read, but Indy's drama is simply too over the top for me.

Jet's shy nature and sweet personality is far more appealing even if she isn't as self-confident as Indy or Aly. One of the best aspects of the story is her coming into her own, and those moments when she sticks up for herself and for those she cares about are wonderful (and not a little bit kick-ass).

Eddie is seriously scorching and his over-the-top possessiveness, which seems to rub some readers the wrong way, didn't bother me. Perhaps it's a sign of having read too many KA alpha-hole heroes.

One minor issue is the rather abrupt ending with Eddie and Jet's HEA in the works, but not completely THERE. The book could certainly do with one of KA's incredible epilogues.

All in all, a rare case in which the sequel is better than the original and I look forward to listening to Hank's story next.

Oh. My. God. Eek!!! Dooda?? Still a fun book much like Rock Chick but some of Jet's phrasing got a bit redundant. I still love that this book takes place in my hometown of Denver and I know of all the places where the characters in the book frequent. Smithy's, really a strip club called Shotgun Willy's. I'll probably keep going with the series just because it is fun and hope that the next Rock Chick as a little wider vocabulary.

This is the lowest rating I have ever given to a Kristen Ashley book. I guess maybe I should have started with this series? I started with her Mountain Men series, which is pretty well written and feels like an adult wrote it, and her heroines are feisty, sassy and not TSTL, they have the personality and mannerisms of real people. This book...feels like it was written by a hormonal teenager, the heroine is not feisty or sassy, she's obnoxious, makes super stupid choices and basically doesn't feel like a real person at all. I liked the first book OK, though after a re-read not as much as when I first read it. If the heroines in this story continue in this bent, I'll not be reading the rest.

The feel of this book was a little different from the first Rock Chick, starting by the lead heroine which is Jet and she had a difficult childhood and her life now is just as difficult what with her having to provide for her and her mother and a gazillion more problems that she has. Eddie was a lot more bold in his actions than Lee, but I still think Lee wins in the yummy category. So happy to see all the gang from the first one together again and just as funny. Tex is such a sweetheart that I wish he should've appeared more, but the book and the writing is still deliciously good. Can't wait to read the next one, since we didn't have any clue about who the main characters were going to be. :)

God what is it with these Rock chics and these Men ... I LOVED this one better then the first one . I love how Kristen Keeps all the characters in each book .

I liked Jet and Eddie's story, just not as much as Lee and Indy's.. I want more Hank and Mace! I think I may have fell in love with them both a little in this book. Don't get me wrong Eddie was pretty hot and swoon worthy too. I don't mind Jet, she was kind of clueless at times and I thought it was crazy that she fought against it so much. I get it, but it was still frustrating. (I could of done without the doo-da, her calling it that irritated me..) Once again loved all the old characters and the new ones! I think maybe I would of enjoyed this more if maybe we got inside Eddie's head. I liked how flirty he was in Rock Chick, but I feel like we didn't get that as much..

    On to the next...

CRACK ME UP & FRY ME UP! This was such a hilarious book - romance, chick lit, beach read, whatever! Some of the characters could have come out of a Stephanie Plum book, but there were enough differences that it didn't really smack of copying. I found myself liking the main character because basically she was trying to always "do the right thing" and take care of her family. LOVED the male main character and how he just bulldozed her, but still allowed some "freedom" for her to do what she needed. Okay, I got the books out of order (borrowed) but now I have Rock Chick, so I'm off to read Indy & Lee's story!!

Book 1 of Rock Chick worked better for me, as I am getting a little glutted with Ashley's heroines who don't know how hot they are. I'm going to take a break before coming back to the series, but odds are good ROCK CHICK RESCUE won't get a reread.

I cannot get enough of this author's books - she is a fantastic writer. This is the 2nd in the Rock Chick series and each one is wonderful in it's own right. If you like romance, alpha males and some steamy sex then these are for you. This one even made me cry at one part.Back Cover Blurb:Jet McAlister has a secret. Eddie Chavez has the hots for Jet (not to mention Eddie's just plain hot). Jet has too many problems to realize that Eddie's interested. Eddie loses patience when Jet ends her waitressing shift at a strip club with a knife at her throat. Since Eddie's a cop, he figures he can help. Since Jet's used to solving everyone's problems she doesn't want Eddie's help.Throw in a Dolly Parton look-alike, a gruff but lovable strip club owner, Jet's ne'er do well father, his ne'er do well friend, Bear, Bear's long-suffering, chain-smoking wife Lavonne and the crew from Rock Chick and you've got Rock Chick Rescue.Rock Chick Rescue takes you on a wild ride with Jet, Eddie and the gang as they wrestle bad guys in a bagel shop, hit Denver's backstreet poker tables (with big hair), and help the strippers at Smithie's take down a would-be murderer.Through this, Jet's got to learn that even when life made you give up your dreams, you can still end up with the (hot) guy. Eddie's got to rescue Jet from a bad man (so he can do better things with her) and teach her that some dreams can come true.

Author's Foreword

This book contains adult content – and it crosses various boundaries even for that. If you are too young to be reading depictions of sexual activity or have limited tolerance for such content, including activities that are, well, not ‘vanilla,’ let us say, perhaps you should look elsewhere. On the other hand, if you consider yourself to be open-minded, well, let’s see... There is nothing here that hasn’t been done before, after all...

As I have indicated before, my characters are what they are, and they speak for themselves, not for me. Don't assume that because one of them presents an attitude that you find offensive, or whatever, that I'm providing you with MY opinions – look around and you'll see another character with a differing viewpoint.

*-*-*-*-*-*

Every character who engages in sexual activity in this tale is eighteen or older.

Enjoy!

Chapter 1

Pam had been out on the street for a week. The descent had started slowly, with a hospital stay for appendicitis, after which she got laid off from her job. Finding something new turned out to be next to impossible, although there were a couple of short things -- just long enough to screw up her unemployment benefits by making her re-apply several times and sit through the delays before the first check came in each time. She'd only been working a couple of years, having been a full-time mother until her divorce, and she wasn't competitive due to her age and lack of experience. Unemployment only went so far -- yeah, it had been there for a while, but it was only half of what she made -- not enough to keep her afloat. She'd pared things back as best she could, but there had been no time to save, and no excess money to start with. Things seemed to accelerate as she lost the ability to maintain one item of support after another...

Eviction had come suddenly -- not because she hadn't made the rent in three months, but because the landlord had been foreclosed on. Suddenly, on no notice, she was on the street! She'd thrown her most precious possessions in her car and lived in it for several days, but then came the day when she couldn't afford gas... The police had towed it one morning while she was out panhandling and they didn't care that she didn't have money for the fine; eventually, the bank that held the note and the police would come to some kind of accommodation, but for her purposes, it was gone. Now, all she had was the contents of a laundry bag...

Her kids didn't know -- but they couldn't help her, anyway. They'd gone off to California -- where things were worse; too many people and not enough jobs and she didn't have even bus fare to get there. No, she would get though this herself, somehow...

So she was sitting on a bench in a parking lot in front of a grocery store with her laundry bag of possessions on the bench beside her, soaking up the meager late-fall sunlight and gathering the will to go out and beg again -- something that hurt her pride. It was probably sixty degrees out, but she was cold -- hunger made her cold all the time these days. The sun went away while she sat there, snoozing, thinking, 'I'm going to last maybe a month like this...' Then it began to sprinkle and her lips curled in a crooked smile and she amended the thought, 'Or maybe not...' She looked down at the laundry bag thoughtfully; it contained the meager collection of her important documents and most prized possessions -- but it had already gotten good and wet once... Besides, how long would it be before someone took it from her, too? She didn't bother to close her jacket; ultimately, it wouldn't matter...

* * * *

Jasper Jernigan sat watching the woman as he'd been doing for the past ten minutes. One look at her had been enough to know that she was on the street -- the mix of clothing in multiple layers, the frayed and somewhat dirty look of everything, the bag -- they all made it clear. But her attitude was the clincher. She was going down for the last time and she knew it and there was nothing to do but ride the elevator to the bottom. There was an air of vulnerability about her that captivated Jasper. He watched her smile a grim, tight-lipped smile as the rain began to fall, and the drops that fell onto the cleavage exposed by the limp spaghetti-strap top under her open hooded sweatshirt made her soft and fragile and erotic. Jasper was a little embarrassed that the woman, who was brown-haired and in her late thirties or early forties, with an odd nose that appeared to make her sneer and a tight, thin-lipped mouth whose default expression seemed to be a flat line, aroused him -- he really didn't understand why. She was short -- he could tell, even though she was sitting -- and plush -- not really fat, but more wide-bodied and well-padded. That cleavage she was displaying pretty much indicated that the breasts involved drooped some, but there was still that hollow; they would be soft, and plenty big enough without being anything huge... The rain started to pick up, moving beyond a mere sprinkle and Jasper decided that he couldn't just sit there, anymore...

Get in the car.

Pam opened her eyes and focused on the man standing over her. He was tall and generally thin, but showing a bit of a paunch, sporting some graying razor stubble and salt-and-pepper hair. There was a moustache... He wasn't in any kind of uniform.

Why?

Because you can't do this and I can't watch you try.

Pam looked up and smiled crookedly. You can't fix it.

You don't know that, the man replied. I can stave it off, anyway.

What do you want? Pam asked. She hadn't descended to offering her body yet, even in the local homeless shelter.

Nothing you're not willing to give. He stood a moment looking down at her. Let's get in out of the wet.

Pam shrugged. It doesn't matter.

You've made that clear, the man said. You've also made it clear why -- but I think you've gotten to that place a little early. He stood for a moment longer, then grunted, Humor me.

Pam thought about it. The worst that could happen would be that she would end up dead in a ditch somewhere -- sooner, rather than later.

All right. She got up
