About this ebook

She escaped her empty life by running on the track team. Her family did not acknowledge her,
she was invisible to them, and they expected her to be perfect and were high achievers as lawyers and never home. She was attracted to Joey because he was like a wounded puppy to her and she wanted to make him feel better.

She sensed his hidden pain and one time when he was walking to the locker room after track, she saw the bruises on his back. She became even more protective, almost like a mother hen with him. Never acknowledging the abuse but feeling the agony he suffers in his silent world.

He enjoyed her company and did not want to destroy their friendship so he placed his feelings for her on the back burner until he felt more confident to take their relationship to another level.

Now, that they were friends, he would pass her in the hallway and always give her a compliment, sometimes sarcastic but she was not invisible when he was around and she liked his dark
impulsive actions. He would boast of the pranks he played on others or about stealing some money
from his old man and other antics even though some of the actions frightened her at times.

Mike was a tall lanky 6 foot, brawny male usually dressed in dark gothic clothing and jewelry.
He had aqua blue eyes that pierced a person’s core, like he could see your deepest hidden secrets, he would unnerve people with his intense stare. He was the peace maker between Star and Joey.

Mike’s parents lived like hippies from the sixty and nothing fazed them. They did not have good
coping skills and decided that a divorce would be a better option than to stay together for the children’s sake so he was placed in the position of a child raising the adults, made a pawn between his bitter single mother and his childish father, he lost his childhood even before it began.

    Chapter One

The three teenagers first met each other at their high school in their freshmen year, As Joey was heading to the café to grab a bite in-between classes and he saw a commotion occurring in the northeast wing and being antisocial, would usually have ignored the bullies and move on. But these two bullies were taunting Star, She was the girl he secretly had a crush on but thought he was out of her league, so he just kept quiet about his feelings for her. Yet today was different she was being targeted by the school bullies, because she dyed her hair pink, purple and blue and shaved it into a Mohawk style.

When Joey saw her on the first day school opened, he thought she was hot then; today she looked even sweeter as he watched the interaction between her and them with her cute pixie face and button nose the colorful Mohawk hair enhanced her features. To him she appeared to look like a cutie babe and he did not like these bullies. Star was holding her own position and was taunting the fat bully with momma jokes.

Mike, who was on the other side of the café, watched the commotion and saw the loner walked up to the bullies. He did not like anyone getting targeted and thought that with his height and brawn maybe if he walked over there, the taunting would stop and the punks would go on their way. And he was bored so a good beating might relieve some of his stress. Lately his parents were hounding him to contribute more money to the house; this was making him feel trapped and anxious. Yes, he thought a good beating would be a release. Knowing he could not take his anger and frustration out on his parents or siblings, these bullies would be the perfect outlet.

The bullies saw Joey and Mike approaching them and the fat one grabbed Star and wrapped his arm around her neck and told the rescuers to back off. The argument had nothing to do with them. Joey sized up the bullies, one fat sloppy goofy one and a giant brain dead oaf, he was so sick of them taunting weaker and defenseless victims especially the gal he has his eyes on. He was thinking of asking her to go out with him for a soda after classes ended for the day. Mike observed Joey cool pose and observation of the punks, calculating the advantages and disadvantages of attacking them like a ninja checking out the scene before approaching his enemies. He liked the kid’s approach and winked at him, waving his fingers in a circle. Joey felt a strange sensation overcome him, a buzz in his head, watching the stranger’s mouth moving as to speak, yet there was no sound coming out from Mike. Yet it was like he was talking to him, but the voice was inside his head. He heard and understood by the body language that this new kid wanted them to circle the punks.

Together in synch they began circling the bullies, the invisible energy between the boys was like a tornado, building up in intensity and getting more powerful as they paced faster and faster around them, closed in closer and closer, squeezing their air space, so tight the oaf started to gasp for air as if he was choking. The fat one, not liking the head games, started to getting angrier and squeezed his arm tighter around Star’s neck and was about to grope her when Joey kicked so quick that he landed his sneaker square on the guy’s nose. In slow motion, they all heard it crack and saw the blood pouring out of it. The boy was stunned and scared of the sight of the red gushing liquid staining his t-shirt; he automatically released Star and raised his hands up to stop the blood flow. Cursing and wimping at the same time, Man what you crazy, I think you broke my nose, I am going to sue your ass.

Dizzy and disoriented from lack of oxygen, she falls clumsily into Mike’s arms. Joey, seeing her falling, steadied the friend’s weight from both toppling over. The punks turned to run, threatening it was not over yet. The three laughed at the fools and decided to cut classes and go to the ice shop for a soda from that day forth they were like the three musketeers but rather like the title of warriors and she knighted them as warriors for to her they were her knights in shining armor that rescued her from the evil henchmen

Being the new kids of the high school, they gravitated towards each other more and more and have been inseparable ever since. Subconsciously all three teens were connected through desperation and loneliness due to each family’s circumstances and they felt each other’s emotional pain. They were bonded by their own demons, be it child, verbal, physical or psychological abuse each in their own way, Suffer in silence for the tragedies of what happened behind closed doors. They were all affected by their inner struggles and all drawn to one another for all had hidden dark skeletons in their closet and were about to discover it was no coincidence they met that fateful day. As they hung out every day and became closer with each other they discover secrets about one another and swore an oath not to betray each other no matter what even if death was knocking at their door.

These three teenagers, Joey, Mike and Star discover there was a psychic connection between the three and this ability help them later when they were forced to escape horrific events of the Friday the 13th weekend.

They shared almost everything except they never spoke about it, IT, the abuse which was hiding under the surface, ready to explode at any moment. Joey, the main character, was a very angry teen. He was physically abused all of his life. His father was a workaholic alcoholic and would go in rages and hit any sibling he could find. He never apologizes for his actions. Joey was a slight toned built standing at 5’9" and weighing 165 pounds. He was a walking time bomb ready to explode at any moment, he had a sharp angel face dark wavy hair that curl around his ears and puppy dog eyes. He was his step father’s punching bag every time the old man drank.

His mother Patty, a petite woman with reddish hair tinted with gray streaks and hazel eyes, just stood in the shadows, too afraid to say anything. Joey hated his life and was reckless. Because of his hyper-vigilant and impulsive nature, he was always lived in
