About this ebook

God’s creation of this world was very intentional. He put all things together in an exact way that would speak clearly about His existence to us humans. However, we can confuse His message and fall prey to deceptions if we do not genuinely seek God. The Bible is our key to knowing the One who is “the way, the truth, and the life.” Through His book, God has given us an accurate glimpse of world history, as well as an accurate glimpse of things to come.

    Introduction

Mirror of Heaven has been written with a zealous prayer that Christians will seek the Lord fervently and develop a deep love for His word. Is it really enough to be a nominal Christian? Is it enough to have one’s name on the church mailing list or to have a baptismal certificate tucked in a drawer at home? Is it enough to have a particular pew on the left side of the church sanctuary (or, maybe, the right side) that one always heads to when actually attending a church service?

The Holy Bible can seem intimidating to those not familiar with it, but so many excellent study helps are available. Many reliable translations can also clarify parts that are difficult to understand. I have personally found the One-Year-Bible a wonderful resource to keep me daily in God’s word. Most importantly, Christians have God’s Holy Spirit to teach and instruct them.

God’s creation of this world was very intentional. He put all things together in an exact way that would speak clearly about His existence to us humans. However, we can confuse His message and fall prey to deceptions if we do not genuinely seek God. The Bible is our key to knowing the One who is the way, the truth, and the life. Through His book, God has given us an accurate glimpse of world history, as well as an accurate glimpse of things to come.

    Part One

Physical Object Lessons of the Spiritual World

    Beginnings

    Chapter 1

Now we see but a poor reflection; then we shall see face to face, are the familiar words written by the Apostle Paul to the Christians in Corinth. I have often wondered about the significance of these words and only lately have begun to understand that Paul was speaking of a mystery that God had revealed to him many years earlier. Paul understood the teachings of Jesus Christ because he knew the Lord undividedly. He realized that God had created a physical world that mirrored the spiritual world, and all through Paul’s epistles we find references to the physical object lessons that reflect spiritual truths.

By contrast these days, we are confronted with the theory of evolution. Many of us have been indoctrinated− through the school system, text books, and through the many nature programs that are aired on television− to view evolution as fact. We are led to believe that, without the control or leadership of God, order and life originated out of chaos and emptiness. Preexistent energy somehow exploded and blew matter and life into the universe which, over billions of years, changed and grew to be life as we know it today. Life without purpose is the result−unless we elevate mankind and credit him with creating a social order that has improved with time and practice to make this world a better place.

Thus comes the recent emergence of sociobiology to explain why man behaves as he does. Negating the Bible’s message of free will, the sociobiologist asserts that a man’s actions and choices are features of his personal genetic code. If we accept these ideas without thought or question, they may seem quite believable on the surface. However, Paul warns us, in the letter to the Roman church, to avoid God’s wrath by refusing to accept man’s lies which suppress the truth. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.

Belief in evolution can not coexist with belief in the one true God. Either the concept of evolution or the reality of the God of the Bible must be accepted wholeheartedly. One can not simply take what seems best from both ideas. The true evolutionist teaches that as man developed and became more sophisticated in his ability to survive, he created god stories to explain what was (at that time) not understood. Beginning with multi-gods and progressing to stories about one god, man himself was the creator of God. In contrast, the Bible tells us that God is eternal and, as creator of time, space, matter, and energy, spoke the world into existence.

Either man is god and through evolution has acquired an exalted position, or God is the sublime One who deserves our total worship and adoration. Christians must realize that if the Bible is not completely true, then belief in God is useless, because belief in a God who lies or has made errors is not belief in God at all.

Until 1543, astronomers believed that the sun, stars, and planets revolved around the earth. When Nicholas Copernicus published a seemingly outlandish explanation saying that the earth was also a planet, and it and the other planets revolved around the sun, a new look was reluctantly taken at the facts previously assumed. Then, several decades later, astronomy was further turned upside down, when Johannes Kepler found in 1609 that the planets did not rotate around the sun in a circular pattern but rather in an ellipse, or oval-shaped orbit. Scientific facts can only be accurate when the premise they are built upon is true.

If one could collect a copy of every book explaining or defending macro-evolution (one life form changing into another life form) that has ever been written, and if they were all placed in one library, the building would be colossal. Yet, if one could gather together all the actual physical evidence of macro-evolution in the form of bone and fossil records, one would discover only a small, questionable collection−far eclipsed by the literature describing it. So often the hypotheses that evolutionists have built their science around is explained in the following ways. A particularly important specimen... [that] dates to around 50,000 years ago... consists of no more than five fragments... or We must start 65 million years ago with a creature known as Purgatorius, represented by sparse cranial and dental fragments... or we might read that our prehistory begins six million years ago...but...there are no bones or artifacts to inspect which might give clues.... From Lucy to Ida and beyond, the futile search for the missing link continues, with the purpose of actually finding proof to support the concept of macro-evolution. In contrast, the Bible clearly tells us that we can look back in the natural world a mere five thousand years−to the event and results of a world-wide catastrophic flood. Fossil records will confirm that−if one begins with the correct premise.

Those who have sought to discredit God have used pseudo-science as a means of supporting their beliefs. True science requires a controlled experimentation that can be both repeated and observed. In matters concerning life’s origin, mankind does not have the ability to observe nor experiment in true scientific fashion. Evolutionists have also used geology to form the hypothesis that numerous ice ages over the past millions of years have created the land forms that
