    Do's, Don'ts and Doughnuts - Monika Becker

    FOREWORD

If you enjoy what you’re doing for a job, it’s not work. Monika doesn’t work!

I have been looked after by Monika with her Tender Loving Care for several years, she is my friend and what a special lady. I met her following a business presentation I was speaking at. I received a most complimenting e-mail from her saying how my talk had inspired her to do amazing things! Her business as a practitioner in holistic healing and alternative therapies has moved to a new level. I consulted her soon after, as I was suffering the after-effects of a cancer diagnosis that led to a personal crisis also. Her healing hands and belief in what she does was the jump start I needed to get back on track and continue my own way of life - I don’t work either! Monika is a life long student, any books I have given her are read almost over night, her own library of complementary healing stuff is enormous and I know that she is a thinker! She says the more I learn the more I can pass on to my patients for their long-term benefit. When you are sick or ill, you see a doctor, Monika knows and teaches that prevention is better than cure, then you won’t need to visit a doctor!

Thanks Monika - I know that in my 74th year I can look forward to a longer, healthier life.

    INTRODUCTION

Rest assured, this is not supposed to be yet another health bible to tell you what to do or not to do – which is where the doughnuts come in - symbolically. The key is moderation and balance. This little book is meant to help you to embark on a healthier and more positive lifestyle. I would like to take you by the hand and to point you into the right direction. To show you how to take over the responsibility for your own mental and physical health.

If you fancy chocolate for example, have some, enjoy it, and don’t feel guilty. The trick is, after your moment of indulgence, to go back on to the healthy eating regime. Craving for chocolate is quite often a sign of your body’s lack of iron, and a cry for love and affection. Yes – true. You crave for sweetness, you can‘t get it, so you want chocolate. Sometimes a vicious circle: You eat chocolate in excess because you don‘t feel loved, you even don‘t love yourself. You gain weight, you feel even less loved and hate yourself. That again calls for more chocolate, doesn‘t it?

My advice for the "iron-bit‘ – go for the healthier option which is non-dairy or plain chocolate, rich in iron. Did you know that 100g chocolate contains almost twice as much iron than spinach? Apart from its contents of iron, it is also a good supplier for magnesium and potassium.
