Finding Karate - COREY GREEN
Chapter 1 Bucky Longbottom
Bucky Longbottom was a simple, shy, socially secluded boy. He was homeschooled for the beginning part of his life. Bucky’s mom wanted Bucky to have an edge on starting school, so she thought it would be best to teach him from home. After homeschooling Bucky, she realized that he would also need the social skills that she couldn’t provide, that public schooling does provide. Boy scouts was an organized program that Bucky tried but didn’t continue for long because of his non-social skills. He liked all the different study guides, rules, the thought of the activities of the scouts. Once he arrived to a function, that’s when things didn’t go as he had planned. There were plenty of people at the events but Bucky found him-self too shy to even speak. Everything overwhelmed him to the point where he had a type of sensory overload and had a hard time focusing on any of the tasks at hand. His clumsiness and inability to make friends got him the most attention and it was usually from the wrong type of people. He was a magnet for some bad luck too.
At age 8 ½, Bucky entered the school system at his elementary school in River City. When Bucky first attended school, other children found that he had a funny name, and would pick on Bucky for no reason other than to make fun of his name. Bucky became shyer and separated him-self from the other children. He found it difficult to speak to other children, and when they would play games that involved a group and a couple of captains to pick the students from, Bucky always got picked last or nearly last. When he did get picked, the captain would sigh with hesitation, Okay, Bucky, you will be on my team.
Everyone in life will have one true good friend that will eventually become their best friend. The person who never judged Bucky was a friendly boy named Jimmy Gibson. Bucky met Jimmy on the playground one day while trying to avoid other children. Jimmy was an outgoing person and was nice to Bucky. Bucky found that he could confide in Jimmy, and Jimmy would confide in Bucky.
Bucky’s parents were divorced, and they often moved within the city because it was very hard for Bucky’s mom to find work. She would move where she could walk or ride the bus to work. They lived on public assistance and over time, they eventually had to move to another apartment complex. So one day, when Bucky was helping his mom pack their things, he asked his mom
When are we going to have to stop moving?
I’m tired of moving
he whimpered.
"We will stop when we find the right place to call home, son claimed Bucky’s mom, I know you don’t like to move,
