- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Angela Walters has written “Beautiful Building Block Quilts” with patterns included for making quilts using an idea of designing your quilt blocks in same patterns, but with different, compatible sizes. For example, you could make a set of quilt blocks in 12”, 6”, 3” and smaller (?). Another size combination might be: 8”, 4”, and 2”. These sizes of blocks will all fit together and can be combined to form the block size that you have chosen, such as 12” or 8”.Walters has suggested that you use graph paper or a computer program, such as Electric Quilt to plan your quilt ahead of time to plan your design and your colorations. That is a very good recommendation for this type of quilt.Beautiful Building Block Quilts provides several patterns of blocks that will work well for this process of quilting, but Walters also suggests some other options for finding other blocks that will work just as well. I believe this to be a fun method of quilt making, and I’m going to give it a try!
