About this audiobook
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Mrs. Miracle shows an ordinary family that they are blessed beyond belief in this uplifting holiday tale from Debbie Macomber, the queen of Christmas stories.
As the holiday season begins, Laurel McCullough could use some good news. She and her husband, Zach, have been praying for a baby that seems more and more like an impossible dream, and they’ve had to move in with her beloved grandmother, Helen, who’s having trouble taking care of herself. But when Laurel contacts a local home-care organization for help, there are no caregivers available.
Then Mrs. Miracle appears at the door. No stranger to lending a helping hand to a family in need, Mrs. Miracle reveals herself to be nothing short of a godsend. Helen’s even convinced she’s an angel! And Laurel can’t help but notice that with Mrs. Miracle’s companionship, Helen is noticeably happier and more engaged, decorating the family Christmas tree and setting up the nativity. In the meantime, Laurel and Zach encounter curious signs, all pointing toward the arrival of a special baby.
As Christmas approaches, there appears to be even more to Mrs. Miracle than meets the eye. In a classic tale of Debbie Macomber’s signature seasonal magic, Laurel, Zach, and Helen experience a holiday of heavenly proportions.

This was a sweet Christmas story about an angel who visits a family struggling with loss. I haven’t read much from Debbie Macomber, but I enjoyed this one a great deal, and I might look for more in this series. I liked that this was not a simple story with simple solutions. I liked that the angel performed small miracles only (decorating the tree, fixing broken ornaments) and not larger ones (no cure for dementia, no miraculous pregnancy). She wasn’t there to solve all their problems with magic; she was there to befriend them, and to prepare them for what was to come. I liked that the heartache of the adoption process was not minimized: it can be quite a drawn-out, painful process, and when it goes badly, people (and marriages) suffer. This book also addresses the grandmother’s sorrow at her own deteriorating mental condition, and she courageously resolves to accept whatever time she has left with whatever grace she can muster. This book is just the perfect mix of hopeful and poignant, of bitttersweet and uplifting. There is enough humor thrown in to soften the hard edges. All in all, a fine holiday story. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5

"A Mrs. Miracle Christmas" tells the story of a childless couple, their grandmother Helen, and her very special caretaker, Mrs. Miracle. Laurel and Zach are struggling with Helen's increasing memory problems, as well are trying to come to terms with their childlessness. When Mrs. Miracle shows up on their doorstep and announces she is Helen's new companion, Zach and Laurel are overjoyed. Mrs. Miracle and Helen form a close friendship, which brings Helen into a new liveliness. However, Mrs. Miracle has an uncanny way of knowing things and "helping" things to happen. Zach and Laurel gradually come to believe that miracles can and do happen.
The plot of this story follows along with the other "angel" theme stories in this series. The story line instantly draws the reader into the lives of this lovable couple and their elderly grandmother. Humor underlies this heart-warming story, along with a generous dose of faith and hope. The novel reacquaints the reader with characters from other novels in the series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. I highly recommend this novel for readers who desire a happy ending, with a healthy helping of Christmas spirit and Christian faith.
I received this novel from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

I read one previous Mrs. Miracle book and enjoyed it. I actually enjoyed that book more than I did this one. I felt the plot for this one was fairly predictable--it's like watching a Hallmark Christmas movie--you pretty much know what you're going to get.
The cover doesn't seem to match anything that happens in the book--there's no gift of a dog/puppy. Laurel and Zach want to be parents but have had trouble conceiving. After a planned adoption falls through late in the process, Laurel decides she can't keep going through the heartbreak. Zach's not ready to give up though.
Laurel's grandmother is declining into dementia. Mrs. Miracle comes to be a companion to her while Laurel and Zach work.
I don't enjoy Macomber's Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy stories (or at least the few I've read I haven't enjoyed). They apparently are popular characters and I'd guess that's why Macomber tried to include them here, but for me, they just intruded on the story. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

Easily read in one sitting, this is a joyous, heartwarming holiday story. Macomber brings back a favorite character, Mrs. Miracle, to return faith in the spirit of the holiday to Laurel, Zach and her grandmother Helen. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

Mrs. Miracle, along with her friends, Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy, are sent to Earth on a mission. One family especially needs help and support and a little miracle of their own. Laurel’s grandmother is showing signs of dementia, and Laurel and her husband have moved in with her. But they have jobs and Helen needs someone to stay with her when they can’t. Enter Mrs. Miracle. But she is there to help more than Helen, though Laurel and Zach don’t know that yet. They have been longing to adopt a baby, but things haven’t gone well for them. Mrs. Miracle is about to change all that. This heart-warming tale is filled with delight and wonderment. Though sad things do happen, all things work out for the good for those who have faith. These Christmas books by Debbie Macomber really do make the season brighter. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

A Mrs. Miracle Christmas by Debbie Macomber is touching Christmas story. I began reading it and did not stop until I finished. A Mrs. Miracle Christmas has Debbie Macomber’s delightful writing which drew me right in. Her characters are developed, and the story moved along at a steady pace. Mrs. Miracle is sent by Gabriel to help Helen, Laurel and Zach. Helen has been praying for her granddaughter who has lost faith as well as hope after failed IVF treatments and an unsuccessful adoption. Zach still has hope, but he is not the praying type. Helen, Laurel’s grandmother, has dementia and her life has shrunk to the point where she sits in a chair trying to knit and watching television. With Mrs. Miracle taking care of Helen, her life expands. Helen finds new activities and new friends with her favorite being the kindly Mrs. Miracle. I thought Laurel and Zach’s struggles were realistic. I could feel their turmoil and sadness. There are some bright moments for the couple along with angelic guidance. There were humorous scenes that had me laughing out loud. I especially enjoyed Mrs. Miracle mentioning her friends, Shirley, Goodness and Mercy. Mrs. Miracle enlists their assistance for a job or two. I like the inclusion of this segment of the Twenty-Third Psalm, “Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life.” We see how important it is to never lose hope or faith. God does listen to our prayers and He answers them in His own way and when He feels it is time. We need to remember that patience is a virtue (like Mrs. Miracle, I struggle with this one). It also tells us that we should be grateful for what we do have instead of what we do not have. I am guilty of this as well. A Mrs. Miracle Christmas is a heartwarming Christmas tale that will lift your spirits and touch your heart. I was happy for the epilogue that beautifully wrapped up this touching tale. A Mrs. Miracle Christmas is an uplifting story with heavenly help, grandmotherly guidance, holiday happenings, a spirited Christmas Eve service and the mysterious Mrs. Miracle. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5
