About this audiobook

Within the tracks of this transformational audio download set, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer reveals how to change the self-defeating thinking patterns that have prevented you from living at the highest levels of success, happiness, and health. Even though you may know what to think, actually changing those thinking habits that have been with you since childhood might be somewhat challenging. If I changed, it would create family dramas . . . I'm too old or too young . . . I'm far too busy and tired . . . I can't afford the things I truly want . . . It would be very difficult for me to do things differently . . . and I've always been this way . . . may all seem to be true, but they're in fact just excuses. So the business of modifying habituated thinking patterns really comes down to tossing out the same tired old excuses and examining your beliefs in a new and truthful light. In this groundbreaking work, Wayne presents a compendium of conscious and subconscious crutches employed by virtually everyone, along with ways to cast them aside once and for all. You'll learn to apply specific questions to any excuse, and then proceed through the steps of a new paradigm. The old, habituated ways of thinking will melt away as you experience the absurdity of hanging on to them. You'll ultimately realize that there are no excuses worth defending, ever, even if they've always been part of your life-and the joy of releasing them will resonate throughout your very being. When you eliminate the need to explain your shortcomings or failures, you'll awaken to the life of your dreams. Excuses . . . Begone!

Unlike many writers in this genre, Dyer was not born into privilege. His upbringing, along with his academic work, give him an insight into the kinds of thinking patterns that can hold poor and middle-class people back.

Sometimes we read a book and something in it just clicks with us. This is that book for me. I've known about this book since it was first published, but I wasn't ready to read it until now. I wish I had been ready to read it back then. I could have shortened the lifespan of my mistakes. This is a wonderful book to open up your mind, change your old thinking habits and create a new way of thinking that will truly benefit your life in every way.

I love Dr. Wayne Dyer. He gets me to question my old thoughts and realize that they're wrong. He not only tells you what to change, but how to change. A lot of these self-help gurus skip the all-important how portion of their teaching and that's the most important step.

Everything he writes is so inspirational. If you need something uplifting that will put you on the right path to reach your personal goals, this is the book to read. I can't recommend it enough.

Dyer helps the reader to realize that he may have a mental roadblock to success. First, he shows how to identify 7 different kinds of faulty thinking. Next, Dyer teaches the reader 7 different ways to expose the faulty programming and replace it with a healthier mindset. To get the most out of this book, I suggest journaling your answers to the questions Dyer poses. This will imprint on your mind that you are in charge of your thinking and can change it like you would change a bad habit.

I've received this book as a gift from my coach Donna Amos. I must say it's an excellent book and I'm truly impressed. This is the first book by Wayne Dyer I've read and after reading Excuses Begone I'm definitely going to explore other books by this author.

I like Mr. Dyer's no-nonsense, straightforward approach combined with spirituality. He defines the main excuses that we use and then offers a step-by-step system that anyone can use to eliminate these excuses from our life. Deep limiting beliefs are often difficult to get rid of but Mr. Dyer makes it easy, clear and understandable. I appreciate the fact that he does not only tell you how to do it but he also explains why you should do it and what the benefit will be once you overcome the obstacles.

Before reading this book, I quite often used phrases like: "It's too difficult. It will take a long time. I'm too... for this." And I never realized I was using excuses because they just seemed reasonable and plausible. I've eliminated these excuses from my life thanks to Mr. Dyer's book and I know how to deal with them should they ever appear again.

I also appreciate positive affirmations that Mr. Dyer offers throughout the book. As a big fan of positive affirmations, I'm well aware of their power and I find those in Excuses Begone to be very valuable and helpful.

If you want to move your life forward, learn how to be completely responsible for your life and stop looking for reasons why you actually can't achieve your goals or make your dreams come true, get Excuses Begone. This book and the advice it contains is truly priceless.

When I picked up this book, it was exactly the medicine I needed. If there's a project you're having trouble starting, something you keep dancing around and procrastinating, this is the book that will help you get past that inertia and get things rolling with enthusiasm. I got what I needed out of the first half of the book and I set it down, for months. I finally picked it back up just to finish the read, and I had a little trouble staying interested in the last half of the book, which seemd fairly repetitive and sometimes a little preachy. Perhaps I just don't need that information yet, I don't know, but I fully expect to not only reference this book on occasion but also to reread it a few more times. Maybe I'll find the second half of the book more useful and stimulating on a future reread. It's definitely a good library staple though, something to have on the shelf when you're giving yourself the run-around about something.
