About this audiobook
How does a woman build her house? Nancy Wilson begins with the kitchen table, remembering how each scratch and stain in the wood chronicles "hours of stories and jokes, questions and concerns (through courtships and pregnancies), prayers and discussions." She continues, each essay full of stories and encouragement—the beauty of imperfection, the comfort of Velveeta, the strengths of mothers- and daughters-in-law, the honesty that is submission, the laughter of reading aloud. As ever, while Nancy draws out our sins and weaknesses and sore spots, she comforts us with the favor of God and rouses us to a joyous faith.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Super helpful for newly weds or new moms. But even for those of us who are veterans, it was a blessing to listen and be reminded of the commonsensical stuff we all know we should be doing!

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I think there is some sound advice and I appreciated the lens the author came from. I learned new ways to think about specific situations and came out better for it.
The vast range of topics for various stages of life made it hard to read it all. For a mom on young kids, advice on how to treat your daughter in law is far from where I’m at. Marriage, family, kids, household, courtship, in-laws, gossip…there is a vast range.
I was grateful for the advice applying for parents in all types of educational choices. I find that rare to get someone to lovingly talk about all ways children can be educated.
However, for the parts where the author says “God want you to…” then doesn’t directly point to scripture, that’s not going to help show that it’s biblical truth over personal beliefs. Especially in the parts that go against society’s norms. Some scripture is referenced but more single verses pulled out of context. I’m not disagreeing with her stance but I’m going to need some Bible research to back up a few on the things. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Love her wisdom for every day life. It has challenged me.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent true words straight from Scripture. Challenging & some hard to hear! But the Holy Spirit has used this book greatly in my heart as I’ve listened to it!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was such an encouraging read. Exactly what I needed in my season of life (1 toddler, a newborn & a new home, learning to be a wife & good DIL!) wow! Loved this so much. Going to listen to this once a year!!!
