Adam Brown

Adam Brown is a Senior Lecturer in Media Studies at Deakin University, Australia, and a volunteer at the Jewish Holocaust Centre in Melbourne, where he initiated the digitization of the Centre’s survivor video testimony collection. He was awarded the Isi Leibler Prize for the best contribution to advancing knowledge of racial, religious or ethnic prejudice in any time or place for his dissertation, and has written widely on Holocaust representation across various genres, surveillance and film, mediations of rape, digital children's television, and gaming cultures.

First and foremost, I must say that the subject matter of this audiobook is concerning, as it teaches tactics of manipulation and control that could potentially harm others. However, from a purely technical standpoint, the audiobook is well-produced and the narration is clear and easy to understand. The author goes into detail about various tactics of persuasion, including hypnosis, NLP, and emotional manipulation. The content itself is presented in a straightforward manner, but the underlying message is unsettling.

Overall, I would not recommend "Dark Psychology" as a resource for learning how to influence others. It is important to approach interpersonal relationships with honesty and respect, rather than seeking to manipulate others for personal gain. This audiobook seems to promote unethical behavior, and listeners should be cautious of the potential harm it could cause.

While it does not really comply to the title given especially learn to influence other people it is a well written informative booklet on what manipulation is, who and what manipulators are, how manipulation can influence your behavior and where you can find it. There are only few mentioned techniques on how to avoid manipulation but as I conclude this review, I can say it was okay, but it should have included some points on how to influence and positively manipulate others. Overall, okay book.

Entertaining. It doesn't teach you the methods but instead tries to fill you with fear that it's all around you just waiting to pounce. I feel sorry for the poor innocent ignorant person that listens to this. They will probably become unnecessarily neurotic. Rather gain the insight in being able to identify the manipulation tactics so that you can prevent yourself from being tricked. Instead of running away. Become smarter.

Well if you like to know what basic tips and tricks people use to manipulate others then this is a decent read. caution though, it's a little shallow and packs about half and hour worth of info. it won't teach you how to manipulate but rather how to spot manipulators.

Such an atrocious portrayal of psychology. Lumping bipolar disorder as a “personality disorder” in the first chapter? That’s not the only red flag I noticed. Yikes. This book is way too generalized and poorly informs others. The narrator couldn’t even say Machiavellian right…

Wow. All the things you can learn about the human mind, manipulation, etc. I thought it was interesting because it can make you aware of what others do to manipulate. I would never do it myself though, or would I? Hah!I gave five stars for this audio book's content. This is amazing and well-explained.
