About this audiobook

One feels he’s not worthy of love. The other fears he doesn’t know how. But the sizzling chemistry between them has both tempted to explore the unknown.

Cyrus

I was intrigued by Crow at first glance. Who wouldn’t be? He’s a mountain of a man, who was raised in a cult and now lives secluded in the wilderness. But the draw I feel to him goes beyond mild interest. When his intense gaze falls my way, it feels like he can see into my soul, to my deepest yearnings and desires.

I took a bold chance venturing to his mountain uninvited. But I can’t help myself. Despite Crow’s dangerous facade, I feel at home when I’m near him. I’ve never felt wanted or needed…until the mountain man took me in his arms.

Crow

The mountain is my home, the only place that truly suits me. I reveled in my solitude…until Cyrus showed up looking as lonely as I felt. The warmth in his gaze made me welcome someone into my home and my heart when I never have before.

The way he smells. The way he feels. I come apart with his every touch. The past haunts us both. Yet when we’re together, the weight of it is manageable. Cyrus is mine, and I don’t ever want to let him go. Still, I fear that eventually he’ll want to leave the mountain, and for the first time in my life, I don’t want to be alone.

On the Mountain deals with depictions of mental illness, past substance abuse, an MC who was raised in a cult, childhood abuse/neglect and trauma.

the book kept me interested the whole time. though the angst and trauma was a bit too much for a strictly feel good book. they both fall into insta-love but it surprisingly works for these characters. they quickly develop a mutual unhealthy obsession with each other. in that way, the relationship is wholesome. it's not one sided.

I really enjoyed the character development and the spice was good. The relationship had just enough angst but nothing drawn out which I also enjoyed. I do feel there was a little something lacking about how the respective histories of the two MCs linked to the present but I can’t put my finger on what it is.

They found their person, and it soothed their weary souls. These are two people, who are scarred and fragile in very different ways.

There’s a lot of internal monologue, so if that bugs you this won’t be an easy read.

Fascinating look at isolation and control, but also how unsympathetic and cruel people can be to things they don’t understand.

    Painful But So Good

I'm rounding this up from 4.5. Cyrus and Crow's story was absolutely heartbreaking and painful at times while also be spicy, loving and oh so good to read. These two men fit together so well to make a beautiful story. I also loved the audiobook with the great narration from Zane Daniels.

This was a challenging book to listen too. I did enjoy it but also found the remembered abuse hard at times. The codependency of the main characters is both beautiful and rattling. Although I do like that neither is 'fixed' at the end but they have made progress.

The best book I have read in a long time! A beautiful story about two men trying to live and survive. They both come from traumatic childhoods and have big trust issues.
But even if there’s a lot of pain to deal with they work hard to support each other.

Zane Daniels is a very good narrator and this one fits him perfectly. He takes all emotions to a next level, but without being too much! Perfection!

One of the best books I’ve read on 2024! I loved the character development and the connection between the two. I loved how they came to understand each other like no one else did. I loved how they came to love each other, despite the troubles and guilt they held. Will keep this book in my heart!

I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. It was well written. The characters were well built. The real-life details of mental illness and lonliness were accurate. At first Crow wasn't my favorite but then by the end I saw him as a lovely teddy bear. Cyrus was a hot mess at first but learned to value himself. I love how they both healed each other. I need more from this author

Oh my heart. I honestly did not expect that much from this book other than it is going to be hot. AND it was!!! Yet it was so emotional and intense. The narrator does an excellent Job portraying the intensity. I teared up a lot, because my heart broke for These two. And even though it could be haevy at times since there are cultish issues to deal with and Trauma and mental health. This book or more precisely the love story was cozy and pretty mugh low Angst. It was more a story of their healing. I am emotionally exausted though, but in a good way. It was totally worth it.
