A promising start to a new series.

Cassie leaves home due to feeling claustrophobic. Her sister believes Cassie is going to betray her (her book magic told her), and the town thinks Cassie and the women in her family are strange and talk behind her back. So, Cassie runs away across the country to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Fleeing all the bad feelings and frustration. to make a new life for herself.

Engaging characters, an intriguing plot, and book magic make for a captivating story. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
