About this audiobook

Can she tame her bear shifters or will she be their dinner?

Alone, frozen, and far from home, Isla finds herself in the care of four frustratingly sexy bear shifters. They soon end up on a Scottish island, trying to survive the disasters of a failing world.

With new relationships unfolding, Isla has to make the decision between her humanity and the bears protecting her.

Will winter drive them apart or can Isla claim her bears?

Rescued by Bears is a full-length reverse harem novel featuring one sassy heroine and four sexy bear shifters (including a polar bear!). Prepare for strong alpha males with a trace of vulnerability, an epic quest, Viking beards, very steamy scenes, Scottish landscapes, Celtic mythology and a post-apocalyptic setting.

Author

Skye MacKinnon

Skye MacKinnon is a USA Today & International Bestselling Author whose books are filled with strong heroines who don't have to choose. She embraces her Scottishness with fantastical Scottish settings and a dash of mythology, no matter if she's writing about Celtic gods, cat shifters, or the streets of Edinburgh. When she's not typing away at her favourite cafe, Skye loves dried mango, as much exotic tea as she can squeeze into her cupboards, and being covered in pet hair by her bunny diva and cat princess.

I listened to Rescued by Bears by Skye MacKinnon on Scribd and I knew of this book and had always wanted to read it but never got to it. I was happy to see all of them are on Scribd and I can listen to my hearts content.

    Story:

I thought the concept of the dystopian world was interesting, to go along with the bear shifters (loved how different ones are represented in the harem!!). I thought Isla was strong and had reasonable reactions to what was thrown at her hahaha (I would have been super pissed like she was with the bears!). I loved the different personalities of the guys and am intrigued by them so much I am already listening to book 2! I was a little thrown off by Alice, but I am gonna see how the rest of the series goes because she is so much of an unknown and her not being interested in the others was odd.

I have listened to other books by Skye but I was under the impression this was one of the more heated books, especially with her blurb saying "very steamy scenes". In honesty it's not, but I will hold my judgement a bit until I have finished the series. I understand some authors choose fade to black for a reason, but I honestly didnt expect it so soon in Skye's books and I hope we get to see more of those moments with some of guys who didnt get that opportunity to shine in this one. Like I love heated moments, but I don't expect all sexy scenes will be detailed, especially with RH (some do thats I love those too, but I am not a fan of all fade to black scenes in a book/series). I like a mix of story and steam, but I have a thing with getting the whole kit and caboodle when the MC and her men first go to that level. It's a special moment and if its glossed over it takes away the story for me. So hopefully this is remedied in the other 2 books because I am sad we don't get to see that with some of the fluffy teddy bears ???. I would have given this a 4 stars but felt lied to by the blurb and marketing of the book.

    Narration:

So I would give Kyo 3.5 stars for her performance. I am on the fence with her, because sometimes I think she is perfect and sometimes I have to up the speed of the audiobook to get to a point where I can stand listening to her. I will say that since she started narrating for some of the RH authors I like she has gotten better, but it took awhile to get there (I couldn't stand her when she did one of Laura Greenwood's books). I thought her accent with some of the guys was goofy but I just went with it. I am not doing to take a lot of this story seriously haha. I do listen to this at 1.5 speed so that helps with the way Kyo breathers/her rendition. I will say I couldn't stand her voice for Alice and I get it, she was trying to show how different her personality is from Isla, but it was a little too much for me.

Ilya annoys me so much lol ?!!! She has too many rules too many. She doesn’t want to be part of the culture. She hates the rules and keeps trying to kill herself. I refused to let Iyla annoy me enough to not enjoy this trilogy.

I love Torbin soo much !! The accent, the body the fact that he’s a freaking polar bear. Yay ?!! He is delish.com!!

I cannot wait until book 2 !! I am already downloading it and I know I should be prepping my notes for this meeting but f that!! Lol ?

    Happy reading everyone ????!!

It doesn’t end with one book so keep that in mind. Leading lady is a bit of a turn off. Annoying at least. Good plot line at the start.
