- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This review is for the first three books collection, Freddy Pilkington-Soames Adventures. I had not listened to nor read any of this series but since I had read the first three Angela Marchmont books and enjoyed them for the most part, I thought I would take a chance. Quite frankly, after listening to the narrator for the first five minutes I almost gave it up. I do not like Mr. Edwards “narrator” voice at all. But I didn’t give up quite so quickly and found that he does a fabulous job of the “character” voices. His voice for Freddy is just perfect. And his very wide range of voices, including the women voices, is excellent. So.... after getting over the narration hurdle, I settled back to see if the stories worked.... and they do. I figured out some of the main as well as side points in stories 1 and 3 but didn’t follow story 2 well enough to figure out who did it, etc. The main stories are interesting and the side stories equally so. I’m glad too that Scribd has not only the rest of Freddy’s stories available but ALL of the Angela Marchmont stories which I definitely will listen to. Over all: recommend Freddy Pilkington-Soames Adventures!!
