This novel is a departure for me as this is not a genre I tend to read but I love cats and yes, I do like dogs too even if I don’t have any. I might not be as knowledgeable about canines but I did grow up with them and I do enjoy them when I’m around them. I like to take a foray into a new world of fiction – one where a dog leads part of the story. This is the first of a new series for Ms. Shojai and it features her protagonist, September Day – a memorable name to be sure but a little quirky to be sure. September returns to Texas after her life implodes but learns her nephew is lost in a freak snowstorm. Her nephew is autistic and September’s sister April (sigh) is trying to “cure” him. He has his service dog, Shadow with him and this is where the book really comes to life. Parts are written in Shadow’s voice and these passages are the best of the book. The book was entertaining and full of twists and turns; some I saw coming others took my by surprise. That’s what you want in a friendly thriller. I am sure that as the series develops the human characters will come to life as beautifully as the animals do. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series

HOLY COW!! Lost and Found fascinated me from the start, and I sure did love Shadow!! The plot just flowed at the right boiling point and I was elated when September FINALLY held her ground to fight! She had fled home to Texas from a stalker who lost everything, her husband and her dog, but she trades one problem for another when he nephew and his service dog disappear in a Texas SNOW BLIZZARD! I CAN HARDLY WAIT TO READ THE NEXT!!

Pet behavior expert Amy Shojai takes us on a wild ride in her latest book. This is a very suspense filled novel, with many twists and turns.Lost and Found tells the story of a little boy who is autistic, his service dog, and the world of science gone terribly wrong. This story is not your typical dog tale. When the boy and his dog suddenly disappear, his aunt is moved to help. She is an animal behaviorist. Putting her own problems aside, she partners with the dog to find the boy. From here things really spiral out of control. The research facility promises to help, but has ulterior motives. Now countless children are in unspeakable danger and time is of the essence. This is an interesting novel of science, suspense, and both pet and human behavior.
