- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I happened to catch T.D. Jakes TV program one day when he was at a conference and he talking about his most recent book, “He-Motions”. A few days later, I was relating part of one of his explanations to a friend. A few days later, they presented me with the book, knowing of my love of reading. That was probably sometime back in September as I haven’t posted book notes since August (see Transforming Children into Spiritual Champions), and I started reading it, and I honestly couldn’t get myself to keep reading it. Although it had some good tidbits, it had what felt like extremely long chapters, and there really wasn’t anything that was earth shattering, and it didn’t leap out to me as a book that I wanted to keep reading. As I had time, I would read a few pages. However, as I was visiting my dad, I pulled it back out, probably because I have spent the last 8 weeks, and particularly the last 3 weeks, really praying and examining who I am, because a few things happened that led me to try to figure out who I was, what my strengths were, what my weakness were. In that, I have had long conversations with my mother and my father about who I am, about who they were, about how they raised me, and about what I am doing in my life. When I came back to the book after having those conversations and it is talking about a man’s relationship with his father, it really started jumping out more.
