About this audiobook
"Davies captures the magic of Dennard's exciting world and illuminates each character" —AudioFile on The Luminaries
The Hunting Moon is the highly anticipated sequel to The Luminaries by New York Times bestselling author Susan Dennard.
Winnie Wednesday has gotten everything she thought she wanted. She passed the deadly hunter trials, her family has been welcomed back into the Luminaries, and overnight, she has become a local celebrity.
The Girl Who Jumped. The Girl Who Got Bitten.
Unfortunately, it all feels wrong. For one, nobody will believe her about the new nightmare called the Whisperer that's killing hunters each night. Everyone blames the werewolf, even though Winnie is certain the wolf is innocent.
On top of that, following her dad's convoluted clues about the Dianas, their magic, and what happened in Hemlock Falls four years ago is leaving her with more questions than answers.
Then to complicate it all, there is still only one person who can help her: Jay Friday, the boy with plenty of problems all his own.
As bodies and secrets pile up around town, Winnie finds herself questioning what it means to be a true Wednesday and a true Luminary—and also where her fierce-hearted loyalties might ultimately have to lie.
A Macmillan Audio production from Tor Books.

Winnie passed the hunter trials, and now she and her family are welcomed back into the Luminaries, and after four years of being treated like ..., her classmates are now treating her like a celebrity because she was The Girl Who Jumped and The Girl Who Got Bitten.
But Winnie hates it. She believes the werewolf is innocent because the Whisperer is real, she has seen it, but only one person believes her but there's no proof.
Following clues left by her dad about the Dianas, Winnie only has more questions.
Book 2 of the series picks up after the first, but it was a little hard to follow as there wasn't much recapping in the beginning. (I'm starting to think publishers/authors are purposely leaving this info out, expecting readers to re-read/re-buy the previous books.) And I almost DNFed it because I wasn't getting pulled in, and not much was happening, but luckily things clicked and things started to happen, then I was able to get into the story!
I liked this one more than the first, there seemed to be more details about the characters and Winnie's reciting of the facts about the monsters happened but not over and over again as in the first book. And it was the same with her teeth clicking. She did it less and only in times of heavy stress, unlike the first book where she did it almost all of the time... (I think there's more stress in the second book than in the first). But some parts of the story seemed to drag and others felt repetitive.
I guessed a couple of things, wrong about one, and suspicions about others.
