About this audiobook
When the grain crop failed in Kansas it seemed like an isolated incident and no one took much notice. Except Ed Hardesty. Then the blight spread to California's fruit harvest, and from there, like wildfire, throughout the nation.
Suddenly America woke up to the fact that her food supplies were almost wiped out. Her grain reserves lethally polluted. And Botulism was multiplying at a horrifying rate.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5interesting concepts but dated.
written in 1981, very much still in the cold war mindset.
Uncomfortable attitudes towards women & POC., even for then.
* warning, containing sexual violence - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Firstly let me say I think this author is a racist. He clearly makes racial slurs disguised as prose. They are unnecessary to the story and add nothing other than a clearer idea of who the author really is. He makes these not subtle jabs often and quite obviously, especially in the thick of the story.
Aside from that, the book was more about politics and politicians than it was drama about the famine, which is what I was looking for. If you’re looking for a book about Russian germ warfare, blah blah blah then this is the book for you. If not, pass, like I should have.3 people found this helpful
