Written well, characters developed, but the narrator was just ok...it was unclear who was talking. There was some voice changes, but not enough to make it clear on where we were for a sentence or 2. Some horror but not visualized enough for me to give it 5 stars. If the author had jumped on graphic details it would have been a home run. All in all very good story.

I came across this author while watching a true crime programme. I really liked her calm, measured telling of the events of the case, and looked her up. I found this book and it gripped me from the first chapter. It's well written and she keeps the pace going, it was so hard to pause the book to engage in conversation! I really enjoyed it.
The characters are believable and I really liked the fact that she used history and folklore in the story.
It's a pity there aren't more of her books available as audiobooks. I like to listen while I do housework or to relax in the evening. Would definitely recommend this book.

Two couples prepare to spend the weekend in a cursed campground. Only one young man survives the slaughter that first night.
The events that follow reveal the mystery of what happened to the first Native Americans who disappeared from this land so many years ago. The author does a brilliant job of weaving together a story of historical fiction, Native American folklore and supernatural horror with a dark and ominous atmosphere. We would all do well to remember those who came before.

At first, this seemed your run of the mill teen/young adults go camping and it's a bad idea type of book, but the plot and characters developed into a much richer offering. Great characters and a story that stayed interesting the whole way through. Add in some true to life historical horror and this is a great read.
